World Soccer XXXI: Golden Generation?

Ooh! I got notified that the price of World Cup tickets just dropped as much as $40. Another few years with similar drops and tickets might be affordable.

The EFL Championship match between Hull and Southampton is scheduled for 23 May 16:30 BST. The winner oud be promoted to the Premier League. However, that might not be happening.

Southampton face a hearing that will take place at the latest on 19 May for spying on Middlesbrough ahead of their semifinal tie. A consequence of that hearing could be that Southampton is expelled from the playoffs and replaced by Middlesbrough. In such an event the club would have a chance to appeal, which could postpone the game. The EFL is advising fans buying tickets that the game could be rescheduled and to build that into their plans (including travel plans).

Division I Men's Soccer adopts 2 semester schedule.

Schedule will run from late August to Saturday before Thanksgiving (with a maximum of 18 games), a break until February, 10 games then the tournament.

Note: It's just for Men's D1. No changes yet for Men's D2 or D3 nor the Women's divisions.
D2 and D3 men along with all women's divisions adopted a mercy rule with a running clock if the lead is 5+ in the last 15 minutes. Not sure why D1 men opted out of that besides the fact it looks like they're trying to become a pro-development league. If that's the case, I'd think a traditional count-up with stoppage time isn't far behind.

Always so lovely of the Brits to start off major sporting events by singing 'My Country 'tis of Thee'

Chelsea vs Manchester City at Wembley in the FA Cup Final

Southampton have been expelled from the Richest Game in the World and Middleborough will now play Hull on Saturday. The appeal will be heard tomorrow.

Southampton will also be penalized 4 points to start next season.

Also, Man City drew Bournemouth, so Arsenal are crowned champions of the Premier League. The Gunners didn't bottle it for once....

UEFA is dropping their equal opportunity qualifiers. Now the top 36 teams will be placed into three groups of 12 in League 1. Each team will play six group games, with the winners advancing directly to the World Cup. The remaining 33 teams will go to a playoff. The other 18, or more, depending on who's banned or competing or declaring independence, will compete in League 2 and still have the chance to qualify for the World Cup. Further details still to be announced.

United States defender Chris Richards has suffered two torn ligaments in his ankle, Crystal Palace manage Oliver Glasner said Thursday, just five days before the U.S. roster is named for the 2026 World Cup.
