World Soccer XXXI: Golden Generation?

Here's the funny part, an easier way to get a goal for the US would be a close call in the box that resulted in a PK. Which would be a heck of a lot easier to hide from criticism.

Sure, there would be endless replay reviews with millions of comments. Just like now. But instead of doing something really out of the situation and now screams the fix is in, it could be seen as simple vision- just like the call that resulted in a red card. And it could not be undone.

IMHO, I don't see this resulting in a significant change in ticket demand or viewership. Just a slight increase in the odds to win the game- which then continues the faux money flow. Whereas a close PK increases the odds of a win a lot more.

So in the pregame, the team pointed out that CR7 benefitted in this very WC by the same rule to suspend red card suspensions. He had a 3 game ban that would have prevented him from playing in the first two game that was suspended after one.

Still, it's curious.

Macarena twice in two days! I suppose close enough to Samba. Some Norge music during the third quarter break?

No score after one quarter.

Is there a goalie award for the WC, or just the golden boot. Seems like a few players could get golden gloves.
It is called the Golden Glove

The Golden Glove is the award given to the best goalkeeper of each FIFA World Cup, decided by FIFA’s Technical Study Group rather than a public vote.

The panel weighs clean sheets, saves, and a keeper’s overall influence on their team’s run, so deep tournament progress usually helps a contender’s case.

Can they really stand to make it *that* obvious?

Wait, this is FIFA, yes, they can....
Honestly, this farking sucks because any win from here on out is tainted. This is 1972 Olympic basketball level of corruption happening in plain sight. We just happen to benefit from it. Doesn't make it ok, though.
