Correct call though. From Law 3:

If a team official, substitute, substituted or sent-off player or outside agent enters the field of play, the referee must:
• only stop play if there is interference with play
• have the person removed when play stops
• take appropriate disciplinary action
If play is stopped and the interference was by:
• a team official, substitute, substituted or sent-off player, play restarts with a direct free kick or penalty kick

the video didn't load but I assume this is the PK call in Bundesliga2? I assume the call is because the substitute touches the ball before its completely out of play? I understand the call but it seems nitpicky when everyone knew it was going out of bounds and no one was close to make a play.

*shrug* It’s the professional level, referees apply the LOTG as they’re written. In the case of VAR it is a clear and obvious error and needs to be reviewed.

At the professional level it’s not a referee’s job to decide “spirit of the game” and all that.

What do we think of the new format? I like it but I'd prefer these conference semifinals and finals be on the weekends.

It’s hard to do weekends during football season but I agree with the sentiment.

I like the format as well. It doesn’t take forever and it gives meaning to the regular season unlike the previous format.

It’s hard to do weekends during football season but I agree with the sentiment.

What does concussion ball have to do with it? Teams should have their own stadium at this point (hi Seattle!).

TV. Fox and ESPN are loaded with college football on Saturdays, going against the NFL can be difficult ratings wise for Sundays.

Friday night is traditionally HS football night in places where that sh-t matters (i.e., ACT states).

I am honestly surprised at the Sounders this season, never thought they’d make MLS Cup. But, the team got healthy at the right time and put it together.
