World Soccer XXX: We Have Men Too!

How big a shock was it? Would a tie have been bad too?
As much as the folks on the internet are overreacting it's not a huge deal. It's not great but it's not world ending either. A tie would've been better but a loss really just puts more pressure on the home games and maybe the road game in Jamaica.

The schedule, coming smack in the middle of two home games, always put this match in doubt for a result.

Losing to Panama even in Panama is embarrassing. Panama is ranked 68th in the world. That would be akin to Germany losing to Bulgaria.

Sooner or later they're going to need to tally one in the first half. Tied for second now, but depending on what happens Wednesday they could be in fifth. They're playing with fire essentially shortening every game to 45 minutes. Although funny enough, the best offensive showing was the one game that wasn't 0-0 at half when they trailed Honduras.

Which was also embarrassing. Need I remind you Panama was outscored 11-2 and lost to freaking Tunisia?
Two of the biggest problems with the US Soccer fanbase are underestimating CONCACAF opponents and overreactions to any results.

Panama is good team that has vastly improved over the last decade and a half, going from irrelevant in 2002 to the World Cup in 2018. They were playing a home game that they needed to win desperately, any game like that is going to be tough, but especially in Central America on a crap, water logged field with a rotated lineup. It's not a great outcome, but it's not embarrassing either.

Funny that you used Germany as your example considering they lost to North Macedonia at home, these results happen even to the big boys. But, Germany also became the first team to qualify for the World Cup today.

Don't pigeonhole me - it's lazy. I am not overreacting to the loss. Teams lose. What I object to is their playing like shit. If they played a great game and lost you tip your hat to the opponent. That said you're overating Panama to counter a position I don't even hold.

Oh BS, I'm not pigeonholing a thing. You said this:

You pigeonholed yourself.

Calling it embarrassing is not an overreaction. I didn't call for anyone to be fired, didn't use mad faces, all caps or swear. That was a bad loss it's not even up for.debate. You're wrong on this so sit and take the L.

JFC to even use the word “embarrassing” is an overreaction. Given the schedule, road losses were going to happen this cycle and this one was certainly a possibility.

Maybe, just maybe, we can admit the other teams can win games too.

Jamaica up 2-0 on Honduras, if the result holds Honduras would move bottom of the table. Shocking for a team that was expected to contend for 3rd or 4th.

Well, CR tried to park the bus and almost succeeded in doing so...

Was very interesting to watch in person. Also props to the AR on the non-bench sideline. She really held her own against a VERY hostile crowd (Ohio was just about where you would expect them to be with a female official **roll eyes**).

Honestly surprised CR didn’t CONCACAF things more, Honduras or Panama would’ve had the stretchers out by minute 15.
