Jesus, how much money is Arthur Blank going to throw at his soccer team? Rumor is they are going to sign another Paraguayan international guy...Oscar Romero...transfer fee in the $6-7 mil range.

Whatever the * he can apparently. Even worse, their youth academy is one of the best in the country, already signed a couple of HGP's from it. Combine all that with a reportedly Sounders-esque season ticket base and it's a bit scary.

Glad they're in the Eastern Conference.

I was pretty happy with MNUFC yesterday, I think they had a better expansion draft than Atl but I also think they had different objectives.

Both teams were trading off their expansion picks it seems. But yeah, Minnesota seemed to be doing better.

Was weird to watch the Sounders parade yesterday at the same time as the expansion draft, though no Sounders players got picked.

Arsenal wearing a nice yellowjacket kit at Man City. What are the rules about which jerseys are chosen? What determines when alternative colors are used? Is it just all about $$$?

In soccer? You have a primary kit and a secondary kit. Home team chooses what they want to wear, away chooses something that doesn't conflict, home GK chooses, away team GK chooses, Referees figure out something.
The only rules are: All players have to have the 5 S, Shirt, shorts, shinguards, socks, shoes. They must have sleeves (yes this is a thing). GK's must wear a contrasting uniform.

Re: World Soccer XXVII: The REAL Football

So supposedly MNUFC has 11 players total that should be signed within the next week or two.

----------------------Christian Ramirez*----------------------
Miguel Ibarra*-------Johan Venegas-Femi Hollinger-Janzen
---------Collen Warner--------Muhammed Saeid------------
J. Davis--Francisco Calvo*-Joe Greenspan--Kevin Venegas
-----------------------Adam Kwarasey*-----------------------

* indicates the 4 players that have strong rumors of ending up at MNUFC, Calvo was reportedly transfered to MNUFC by Saprissa, while Leon has announced a price decided between them MNUFC for Ibarra.

With the prospect of drafting Ebobisse, I'd say MNUFC's roster is coming along nicely...although only 7 (Venegas, Hollinger-Janzen, Warner, Saeid, Davis, Greenspan, & Venegas) of those guys are officially on the roster right now...

It's a solid lineup for sure. With MNUFC in the West I don't see them taking many points off of Seattle, Dallas, LA etc. but they can compete against the likes of Houston, San Jose, and even Portland or Vancouver. Likely not a playoff team but they won't be bad.

Ibarra gets a redemption chance after moving to Mexico and doing f* all. Be interesting to see if he's as good as he was thought to be or if he was just a Klinsmann NASL Pandering Stunt.

i honestly cannot believe he went to Mexico and has done nothing...

It happens, player makes a move and before too long the manager is fired and that player is stuck at a club with a manager who doesn't want him.

Probably should've gone to MLS but I can understand not wanting to play for Portland. :D

Re: World Soccer XXVII: The REAL Football

Considering he never got a chance to bring in players, that's a crap move and sucks for Bob.
I'm thinking ownership was looking for a miracle to avoid relegation and that's why they hired him. They're gonna have to keep looking for that miracle.

LOL. You noticed that too, eh?
That article by Magary is somewhat funny. It's Haisley and his vehement anti-MLS stance that's *ing annoying.

Case in point: MLS Cup. Deadspin did not write an article or mention about it (and it was played on a night with no football or any meaningful NHL/NBA games) yet Haisley can write a piece showing some goal Messi scored in a random Spanish Cup game.

I like Deadspin, but their soccer coverage can go die in a fire.
