World Soccer XXVII: The REAL Football

Re: World Soccer XXVII: The REAL Football

Who here has tried to get tickets to soccer matches in Europe, specifically in Italy? Mrs. EoDS and I are thinking of trying to see a game at Napoli (the UCL match against Dynamo Kiev) when we visit there later this year, and even after a cursory google search, I'm not sure about the best way to go about doing that.

Anyone here with experience buying tickets for stuff like that?

When I was in Florence we just bought tickets at the match. It was easy and not too expensive (even with it being more expensive than usual; it was somewhat of a desired fixture from what I recall).

That was a Serie A game not Champions League, and a different club...so no idea what ticket availability is likely to be in Naples. But I would say if you want seating in a specific area, or at a specific price point, finding an outlet in advance would be clever. From what I recall the cheap seats and the "good" seats were unavailable, so we were left with mid-tier seating (although we bought our tickets about 10min to kick-off so that probably played a role).

Re: World Soccer XXVII: The REAL Football

I see the new Coach of England resigned after what two months on the job.
As far as the EPL....I've been a Liverpool fan for a while but honestly recently it's hard to cheer for them. It's not the same since they traded Suarez.
I love the Liverpudlians though.

Re: World Soccer XXVII: The REAL Football

On July 24th the Seattle Sounders lost to Sporting KC 3-0, were in 9th place in the Western Conference (17th overall) and were 10 points out of the playoffs.

This week they win 3 games in 8 days, are now 5th in the West, 3 points above the redline, and have a shot at 4th and 3rd in the West.

This is insane.

New FIFA prez wants to expand World Cup to 48 teams, with 16 automatically in the group stage and then other 32 doing a first round play in game before advancing to the normal group stage.

Re: World Soccer XXVII: The REAL Football

Bob Bradley named manager of Swansea City. First American to helm a PL club.

Last I heard Swansea (they're the green and yellow guys, right? (edit: no, that's Norwich)) was celebrated for exciting, up-tempo successful play. Did their coach leave for a bigger club?

Re: World Soccer XXVII: The REAL Football

He's either on the first big step to a grand European coaching career or 6 months away from being a mid season replacement for the Galaxy.
Swansea is in relegation territory(I know the season has just started)so I'm guessing the latter.

Re: World Soccer XXVII: The REAL Football

If you want to root for Arsenal, fine. But the rest of them are intolerable.

Welp, since I adopted them they're 3-0-0, 6 GF 0 GA. Next four matches are hosting Swansea, Ludogorets (who I had never heard of before; Bulgarian team in the Champions League), Middlesborough, and Reading (League Cup) and hey that gets me to hockey season.

Maybe the play-in would be at home field?

Seems to me if you were going to do that make it a champions league home and home.
Lol you are naive in soccer Kep! It'll be in the host country, in their stadiums with all the lovely approved advertising and television audiences.

12 pools of 4 teams. Top team in each pool get an automatic spot into the Round of 16. The second best teams in each pool have a playoff to get the final four slots into the Round of 16. Maybe have it be double elimination as some teams there would have to play at least 2 games while 4 teams would only get one game in a single elimination tournament.

Or 8 pools of 6 with 5 pool games.
