Re: World Soccer XXV - the run up to the World Cup

No it doesn't. They'll go to Germany or something first.

As Shirtless noted: that won't be the case (at least, not Germany specifically) if they honor the confederation eligibility rule that they've set forth (if your confederation hosted one of the last two World Cups, you are not eligible to host).

And you guys are thinking FIFA will apply logic in this situation?

Re: World Soccer XXV - the run up to the World Cup

ESPN Classic is infecting people with World Cup fever. Classic soccer matches, soccer documentaries and the lot have been airing all week. On now: The USA - Algeria match from the opening round in 2010.

In case you forgot how that ended...

Re: World Soccer XXV - the run up to the World Cup

Arsenal has absorbed 2 Hull shots in the first 9 minutes. Can Wenger implement adequate damage control and go on the offensive??

Re: World Soccer XXV - the run up to the World Cup

Atlético wins 10th La Liga title, and first since 1996 with a draw at Camp Nou

Re: World Soccer XXV - the run up to the World Cup

Kudos to Hull for putting up a great fight. Glad to see Arsenal win though, so the pundits will stop bleating for awhile about Arsene's hardware drought.

Re: World Soccer XXV - the run up to the World Cup

no benteke is huge though...still a lot of talent

Re: World Soccer XXV - the run up to the World Cup

Holy S*!T
USA announced their 23-man roster and Landon Donovan isn't on it....

Goalkeepers: Brad Guzan, Tim Howard, Nick Rimando
Defenders: Beasley, Besler, Brooks, Cameron, Chandler, Gonzalez, Johnson, Yedlin
Midfielders: Beckerman, Bedoya, Bradley, Davis, Diskerud, Green, Jones, Zusi
Forwards: Altidore, Dempsey, Johannsson, Wondolowski

Cuts: Donovan, Parkhurst, Evans, Goodson, Corona, Edu, Boyd

Re: World Soccer XXV - the run up to the World Cup

That's a bold move...

Re: World Soccer XXV - the run up to the World Cup

Well, he's looked out of shape lately. And honestly, Diskerud and Johannsson have looked better.

Re: World Soccer XXV - the run up to the World Cup

I'm a Seattle fan and I'm shocked at that. He's fast and can play the ball but his one on one defending isn't great.
my guess is that both he and Green made the team simply because Klinsmann expects big things from them in 2018...which is disappointing to me because we don't have the luxury of using roster spots on unproven players like that.
