World Soccer XXIX: Pro/Rel USA! just kidding!

It can be a bad result and still not mean we should fire berhalter
This.

The team hasn’t even played a competitive match under Berhalter and everyone is calling for him to be fired. Let’s not be like Mexico, or at least the Mexico of old.

I guess I consider any time the team steps on the pitch as a competitive match...but that's me.
If they think they can just turn it on and win the Gold Cup...they are in for a rude awakening.

"Gentlemen, you don't have enough talent to win on talent alone."

Friendlies, despite any “all NT matches are important” attitudes, are functionally different from actual, competitive matches. You only have so many NT matches so you have to experiment at some point. Is the result concerning? Sure, it’s worrying. Do they need to fire a coach over it? Heck no. People need to chill tf out.

57'
Thailand 0
USWNT 7

It's ugly
You expand from 16 to 24 teams you’re gonna have games like this.

Edit: It’s important to note that Asia gets 5 teams, on a continent where plenty of countries don’t have teams, Thailand was 4th.

12-0 in the 87th. Morgan with 5. Now a Women's World Cup record for biggest win.

Morgan also just tied the record for goals in a game. Ties Akers of the US against Taiwan in the '91 WC.

Make it a baker's dozen. Lloyd puts one in at 90+2.

13-0 USA

And that'll be the final. Finishes a goal short of the all-time USWNT win.

Oh cool... This is the mirror image to how the Men's team will do in the Gold Cup :p

Another important note is that due to North Korea's ban in 2015, they were also banned from the Asian Cup, which is also a WC qualifier. That meant for the 2018 Asian Cup the dropped all the way to the bottom pot in the draws, and by luck were put into South Korea's group. They drew with SK and tied them in the group, but lost out on goal differential.

They could have just been easily put in a group where Thailand, Vietnam, or the Philippines was the top team. So instead of the 11th ranked team in the world, AFC sent the 34th. I've got a feeling USA vs DPRK would have been a little closer than 13-0.

Boring. As with the Dream Team I can't help but root against them.

I had forgotten about that and wondered why N. Korea wasn’t there.

The US got gifted a draw with Thailand and Chile.

Edit: I didn’t pay attention.
