Villa went through. Fulham dropped. I didn't see a minute of a match this year so my fandom is officially retired. Actually I didn't see a minute of any EPL match all year so my fandom is... suspended. I'm going to have to pick a Big 6 team eventually, but they're all so gross -- it's like an entire league of noisy neighbor Red Sox and smug Yankees. I guess Spurs by default, since their doom rhymes with the Mets. Nice kit, anyway.

It's time for the EPL/NFL cross-comparison again.

I want to say that I gave the small fry a good chance (Cottager 2008 - 2018) but just could not maintain the interest. Footy is like cantaloupe or humanities scholarship: the very best is non pareil, but anything less than an A+ is inedible.

An amateur team coached by Paul Caligiuri (Orange County FC) will move on to face an MLS team in Round 4 of the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup. They are the only team not from USL Championship or MLS remaining after a 5-3 win over Eric Wynalda's Las Vegas Lights.

Their other wins are 1-0 against FC Golden State Force (USL2), and 2(5)-2(3) against Orange County SC (USLC).

Exciting stuff.
