World Soccer XXIII - "Pay" Up Pompey?

Re: World Soccer XXIII - "Pay" Up Pompey?

Dortmund did win the Bundesliga last year and the year before, including a league-cup double last year; it's not like they've been starved for recent success.

I think a lot of fans of club football know how good Dortmund are, but I know UEFA was kind of hoping that Real and Barca would meet in the final.

You know that for a fact? Spending a lot of time on the phone with Michel Platini these days?

Why would I waste my time with that d-nozzle? :D I'm just saying that when the semi draw came, people said "OMG. Real, Barcelona final. Let's skip the semis." And they completely dismissed Bayern and Dortmund despite their credentials.

"people said" doesn't equal "UEFA was kind of hoping".

And, I mean, people are dumb. Bayern and Dortmund are good and shouldn't have been overlooked, if they were.

I agree with you on not overlooking the two German sides. People just see Real and Barca and want another Super Classico, but I knew that Bayren has been dominating the Bundesliga that Dortmund won last year.

Fine with it. He's got to learn eventually.

However the FA are a bunch of clowns.

When a Latin player uses a non-racist word to a black player: 8 game ban.

When a black player uses racist language to a Latino player: 0 game ban.

When a white English player uses a racist word to a black player: 4 game ban.

When a black English player bites someone: 0 game ban AND called up to England squad.

When a latino player bites someone: 10 games.

It's amazing how the length of the bans depends on 1) the color of your skin 2) the color of the skin of the person injured or making up nonsense accusations 3) Which club you play for.

At least the FA didn't find a way to sanction USC :p

It also depends upon whether you've bitten someone before, apparently. Last time he bit someone, he got a 7-game ban.

If he were better known in the US, his agent would have contacted Snickers by now to see if they want him in one of their commercials!

Actually you're completely incorrect as the FA report pointedly mentions that they don't take into account his prior actions. (Whether or not they're lying through their teeth is another topic entirely. :P)

Actually you're completely incorrect

that's been known to happen upon occasion....

the FA report pointedly mentions that they don't take into account his prior actions.

hmm....first, why not? you'd think that should make a difference, no?

second, why would they mention "prior actions" at all unless they were aware of them in the first place?

But you would think it were justified if it were Evra or Kompany. :D

Re: World Soccer XXIII - "Pay" Up Pompey?

So, I went to the Flash game last night. Flash ended up losing 2-1 on a 83rd minute goal; Wambach was injured. 0-2-1 is not a very good start.

18-year old Boston GK Cecilia Santiago became the youngest woman to ever win a game in women's professional soccer.

She was a little shaky at first (WNY scored at about 6'), but she calmed down and cut angles off quite well. Not to mention, the 10 in front of her were very crisp and pretty much controlled possession.

Re: World Soccer XXIII - "Pay" Up Pompey?

It always amazes me that it is not bad hires at manager, its not excessive money spent on marginal players, no of course its neither of those things. It is of course a vast FA conspiracy against Liverpool.

So you're saying that if I stop rooting for certain sports teams, they'll win? :D

Re: World Soccer XXIII - "Pay" Up Pompey?

I think what really bugs them is that Liverpool is no longer prominent enough to have the vast FA conspiracy be for them rather than against them.

Re: World Soccer XXIII - "Pay" Up Pompey?

Can someone please point to where anyone said it was a vast FA conspiracy? I can't find it. The only thing I can find is TBA saying the FA is a bunch of clowns because a rule isn't enforced universally, but rather on a case-by-case basis.

The FA aren't competent enough to run a vast conspiracy. Though I wouldn't doubt they would if they were competent enough.
