At some point before the match, orders came down from either those in charge of the New England Revolution, stadium security or the Foxborough Police Department (you guess which entity) for security team members to keep their eyes on "The Fort," the area of the stadium that houses the team's supporters section. Just as in Major League Soccer stadiums and arenas around the country, time eventually came for the well-known and arguably cliche "You Suck (expletive)" chant, a chant that occurs during an opponent's goal kick (a NSFW video example can be found here). The New England fans chanted the three words in unison and, well, it was on.
We may never know exactly what happened next, but what we do know is that some fans in the supporters section were banned and more than a couple were even arrested. Many who escaped incarceration left the section and the stadium with roughly 25 minutes remaining in the match.
