Winning despite their vindictiveness towards United. Now that's the ultimate FU to the FA.

This comment is like Bobby Cox complaining about the umpires' strike zones back when Maddux, Glavine, Smotlz, et al were pitching.

Turns out Jones isn't the only American to learn the art of 'simulation.'

Did anyone watch the Red Bulls-Timbers game? Atrocious referring throughout. The disparity was something like 26-3 or the like. Henry straight red, Moffat a yellow, Tainio got one for playing to aggressive while getting the ball. Red Bulls were very lucky to draw. I can't wait for Ream Rafa Richards and Juan to get back. Keel is terrible.

I love this post so much I want to marry it.

Embellishment rather than dive. The Jamaican defender made contact with Jones's trailing heel, which put him off balance.

Yup. Knee to heel at around the 35 second mark.

If you're looking for a diver to string up, may I humbly submit Charlie Davies?

Davies plays for DC now; it goes without saying that he's scum.

I'm not stringing Jones up, but he did pretty clearly embellish. There's contact but the flailing arms are just silly.

If the ball was closer he may have stayed up, once it was clear he wasn't going to beat the goalie to it, he went all spastic...watching it live we all thought it was a dive. Glad to see the replay.

So this is interesting.

At some point before the match, orders came down from either those in charge of the New England Revolution, stadium security or the Foxborough Police Department (you guess which entity) for security team members to keep their eyes on "The Fort," the area of the stadium that houses the team's supporters section. Just as in Major League Soccer stadiums and arenas around the country, time eventually came for the well-known and arguably cliche "You Suck (expletive)" chant, a chant that occurs during an opponent's goal kick (a NSFW video example can be found here). The New England fans chanted the three words in unison and, well, it was on.

We may never know exactly what happened next, but what we do know is that some fans in the supporters section were banned and more than a couple were even arrested. Many who escaped incarceration left the section and the stadium with roughly 25 minutes remaining in the match. As you might expect, the atmosphere in the stadium during the rest of the game took quite a hit...

First of all, like the guy says, it sound like some of the story is being left out. I can't decide how I feel about it generally though. On the one hand, I believe at least some leeway ought to be given to fans at sporting events. On the other hand, the YSA chant is just so so so stupid and uncreative, I'm not exactly crying for members of the Fort.

A release from a team official indicated that they had fielded frequent complaints from season ticketholders elsewhere in the stadium about YSA.

I'm not remotely sympathetic to the guys who insist on the profanity. Real fans can figure out a way to make an impact without offending the rest of the stadium.

I'm sympathetic only to the extent that it's not clear if they were warned before being kicked out or not. It sounds like they were "warned" in the generic sense that the club asked them to stop doing it, but it doesn't sound like they were warned on this particular night to stop the profanity or else they'd be banned/arrested. There's an escalation gap somewhere that is unexplained.

Professors Cristy Ronaldo and Didier Divba give that effort an A. :D

Love the pilot at the end. "Oh sh--!"

Re: World Soccer XX: I paid Jack Warner $1M for the right to start this thread

Now, I'm not the biggest Henry supporter. :D However, his sending off is idiotic. The card may be for unsportsmanlike behavior, but that's stretching it to.

Henry "pats" player on the head

I do know some people in Ireland that would love to "pat" Henry on the head repeatedly. :D

ESPNU right now, Spain just scored in the 90' to tie Belarus 1-1 in a Euro U-21 semifinal.

Belarus had been absolutely under siege for over half an hour.

Donovan starts out on the bench again tonight. Interesting gamble by Bradley.

Howard; Cherundolo, Goodson, Bocanegra, Lichaj; Bradley, Jones; Bedoya, Kljestan, Dempsey; Agudelo

I absolutely love the lineup. Not one of those players deserved to sit. Especially Kljestan and Bedoya.

Did the US retire the blue shirts? The red ones are terrible compared to the blue ones.
