That's my thoughts on it as well. They were offering 1.5 million for a vote on Qutar? You would think that there's going to be more hands in the cookie jar when it's all said and done.

On the other hand, it sounds like Sepp Blatter is well on his way to being reelected to another term to head FIFA. As long as he runs things, I don't see meaningful reform. And with the support he's seeing, including the announcement from Oceania that they will support him, it doesn't appear that most national soccer federations want to clean up the corruption. Color me as very cynical.

The thing of it is, Blatter is probably the better of the two alternatives.

You'd prefer Bin Hammam, who I believe is actually from Qatar, and consequently at least as likely as Blatter to have been involved in any bid rigging shenanigans?

I don't actually know who the other option(s) is/are, that's why I was asking.

Re: Norwich City back in the Premier League!

First leg of the Championship playoff semifinals was a goalless draw at the City Ground, which is most definitely a de facto loss for Forest after Swansea's Neil Taylor was sent off IN THE SECOND MINUTE and the visitors had the majority of the chances. Still, all to play for in Wales next week, where Swansea won 3-2 in March, though that was in the thick of Forest's stretch of nearly two months without a league win.

Mohammed Bin Hammam is the only opponent to Blatter in the election. See below for why I would hold my nose and vote for Blatter.

It says it all about FIFA that the only two candidates are corrupt beyond measure. The choice is, do we like the corruption we know, or do we want to change flavors of corruption? Yikes.

Doesn't mattter who they vote for because USA Soccer and the English FA will get screwed anyways. :D

Hey, if ManU are going to win the title (and it seems safe to assume they are), could they do it by beating Blackburn and (somehow inexplicably) losing to Blackpool? I'd like it if they stayed up and the three W clubs went down. (But the Cheats especially, of course, I totally wouldn't mind Wigan staying up if they clinched it by beating Spam.)

Wolves are my second team, so even though I like Blackpool, I'm looking for them to go down with Wigan and West Ham. What a mess West Ham has become.

Somehow Obama will get blamed for West Ham going down. (He is an Irons supporter in actuality.) :D

I think this should once again point out that any notion of international universalism as a peaceful pure society is a total farce... most of these international orgs are far more corrupt than any particular national analog... at least within the western setting.

Its amazing that when things look bad they manage to find a way to generate a "worse".

Huh. Who knew FIFA embraced the American political idea of picking two awful candidates who will change nothing and making them your only options.

The world gets to know what Seattle has known for years: Portland Sucks.

I didn't have a problem with them coming into the season, but they're a bunch of thugs. Karl Henry shouldn't just be relegated, he should be forcefully ejected from playing professionally.
