Siena is building a brand new, amphitheater-style 20k stadium south of the city on what passes for an Italian "interstate" (read: Montana cowpath).

As much as I am a proponent of AC Siena, something tells me this has more to do with cement contracts than corner kicks.

I wonder if the DiMeo crime family and a Mr. Soprano have anything to do with it? wink wink nudge nudge

What makes you so sure? They play in a stadium that's almost 90 years old and has a capacity of under 16,000, and the design for the new stadium won an architectural award for preserving the environment of the area. There seem to be multiple good reasons for this project that don't have anything to do with pork. Yes, it remains to be seen how the construction of appropriate access roads will impact the "environment of the area," but come on, the stadium itself looks incredible.

The German league game between St Pauli and Schalke on Friday was halted in the 88th-minute after a linesman was hit by a plastic cup full of beer.
Schalke were 2-0 up in the Bundesliga match after goals from Raul and Julian Draxler when referee Deniz Aytekin ordered the teams off the pitch.
Hosts St Pauli had two players sent off before the cup was thrown.
"Even in the first half the assistants had been hit by lighters and coins," said Aytekin.

At first I thought it was an April Fool's joke because they specify that the cup was full and it's difficult to envision a German wasting beer.

Not to mention , how does a fan throw a plastic cup of beer and have it stay full while airborn, onto the pitch? That's some skillful throwing!

Wasn't the Artest situation sparked by something similar?

DeRosario to the Red Bulls. Wow.

My money is that the beer was American. That's about the only way I could see a German wasting "beer".

This makes me happy. But, already there's talk of Ream, Agudelo, and Richards being targets for European teams next year. So this year might be the only chance for a Supporter's Shield for a couple of years.

If Stoke gets any closer to scoring a goal it will be in the net. Two chances off the goalies finger tips and off the crossbar and a header into the goalies chest.

Jose Mourinho's 150 match home unbeaten streak came to an end today with Madrid's 1-0 loss to Sporting Gijon.

I don't know if anyone has said this, but I think Teemu Tainio is a really nice under-the-radar signing for the Red Bulls, to be able to get a player with that much experience (but still, it should be noted, younger than Henry and Marquez) and versatility without using a designated player slot.

Excellent excellent match between Vancouver and KC. Entertaining throughout, and the Whitecaps get two stoppage time goals to earn a 3-3 draw.

Nice comeback by United to beat the Irons 4-2. Especially since th FA is making the Devils play 3 men down from the start of every match. :D

Go ahead and have your vendetta against Sir Alex. We'll still win and rub that trophy right in your face.

I'm sure the foot of snow that fell yesterday had nothing to do with it.

Which once again proves my theory: Portland Sucks. :D

To be on topic, I suppose this is what happens when an owner does not give a * about his team...

I think people have underrated SKC a bit, they could go very far this year.

Meanwhile, Seattle still can't win, but at least they've gotten points in their last two.
