Re: World Soccer XVIII: A New Season

Speaking of odds, I believe Blackpool was 16-1 odds this past week to be in 1st place in the Premier League at any point this season. Thought they were going to do it until Chavski went out and hung 6 on the Baggies.

Re: World Soccer XVIII: A New Season

Blackburn top of the table (well on pts anyways)! woo woo! :D

In reality they needed to get home points on the opening weekend, even if the goal was a mistake by Howard.

Road points are tough to come by, so you have to take care of business at home.

Re: World Soccer XVIII: A New Season

Villa looked sharp today...if the players disliked MON as much as I hear they did it may be no surprise they played loose today unlike last year's first game debacle loss to Wigan.

I say keep Mac as the coach, he has coached the young players, even the senior players like him and there is less risk of bringing in somebody new and having a conflict between personnel and system.

They played several young players today, possibly a nod towards the criticism of MON that he wore the team out over the season.

Lerner laid into Man City and took a swipe at MON in the papers today. I guess Milner will go but it would be great if AVFC told Citeh to stuff it and demanded 35.

Lerner laid into Man City and took a swipe at MON in the papers today. I guess Milner will go but it would be great if AVFC told Citeh to stuff it and demanded 35.

Here's part of Lerner's quote from the story:
‘Big, bad Manchester City came along and asked for Milner and we said, “No, he is not for sale”. And under the rules you have to respect that. And Manchester City respected that for two whole days. And then they violated the rules and came in for him again.’

Lerner made it clear that he does not intend to make a formal complaint to the Football Association about City’s alleged conduct. Neither is he particularly keen to smooth the path for the £25million deal to be finalised.

If he's so upset, file a formal complaint. If not, quit whining.

Re: World Soccer XVIII: A New Season

Or, make the point and take the high road. Try it some time.

But if he really feels as if Manchester City broke the rules, and did wrong, why not complain so they get punished for their wrongdoing, and won't be allowed to do it again? (Or at least would be apprehensive about doing so.)

He sounds more bitter than anything in my opinion, but I'm biased of course.

Re: World Soccer XVIII: A New Season

Citeh and high road are two things that usually don't go together. :D

However, teams do it all the time. They'll be told to buzz off, but they will come back with more cash and the other team will listen. Lerner should complain if he's that mad. If not, then be quiet.

Re: World Soccer XVIII: A New Season

FT, 1-1.

Reina was spectacular and then made a terrible play and gave up an own goal.

But have to be pleased that with 10 men, Liverpool dominated play.
