World Soccer XVI: The Sadness

Re: World Soccer XVI: The Sadness

yet another yellow as Uruguay try to take Ghana out of their game.

Re: World Soccer XVI: The Sadness

Thank you Uruguay. And Red Cloud, I would've loved it if the US got far and the Glenn Becks of the world had to choose between their nativism and their patriotism. Their heads would have exploded at that point. :D

The thing I don't get about the "soccer isn't an American sport" is, well, baseball evolved from a European game, as did football. Hockey's not originally American. The only two sports that are genuinely formulated in the US are basketball and lacrosse.

Re: World Soccer XVI: The Sadness

I think I speak for everyone here in saying that is not a good idea.

That's fine, just my opinion...and I've played/watched soccer my whole life. Slide tackling increases each step along the way. I just don't like it. I think there's too much of it and to me represents laziness.

Logic is something the far left and right do not practice that much. :D

Re: World Soccer XVI: The Sadness

QFT.

EDIT: Ooh! Keeper almost accomplishes this but foolishly punches the ball instead!

There's a great picture of me in high school playing keeper where there was a challenge for a ball in the air and the shot was taken at the EXACT moment my fist is going through another players face. It was priceless.

Nothing dirty, just a highly contested ball.

Re: World Soccer XVI: The Sadness

Boateng hauled down in the penalty area. Uruguay fortunate to avoid a penalty there.

Sounds like that would make for a good profile picture. :D

Re: World Soccer XVI: The Sadness

Inkoom going off? Who's oging to act like he got shot if ghana goes up again?

Re: World Soccer XVI: The Sadness

I thought the ref got that one right. He had his shorts pulled, but he also went down way too easily in my eyes.

the type of call you don't know for sure which way it will go. especially given some of the reffing we've seen.

Re: World Soccer XVI: The Sadness

confirmed.

That's fine, if you like watching a team of cheaters and actors, that's your prerogative.

Edit: Again, i've had this opinion since I started playing. Italy, ghana, most of the latin and south american teams. Whatever. if you dive, I don't like you.

To complicated things further, Basketball was invented (in the USA) by a Canadian, Dr. James Naismith. And Lacrosse also has plenty of Canadian origin as part of the Iroqouis Nation, whose lands straddled the border.

Re: World Soccer XVI: The Sadness

LOL at the defender going down like a hockey player to block a shot
