World Soccer XVI: The Sadness

Re: World Soccer XVI: The Sadness

Name one other sport that stretchers players off the field only to return. ONE.
So if the Uruguayan guy got his wind knocked out of him, and he couldn't get up and walk off the field, so they stretchered him off rather than treat him there, and then he recovered, he shouldn't be able to come back into the game?

Why does it matter what other sports do? Other sports don't have a running clock, so if they're injured but not terribly badly injured you can just treat them on the field.

Maybe not stretchers, but I can recall an incident or two in the NFL where someone gets carted off for X-rays, but then returns for the 2nd half. That's a totally different situation though, with free substitution and all.

And who can forget poor Paul Pierce and his wheelchair in the NBA playoffs a year or two ago?

Well, you have to understand that part of the reason they do that is to allow the game to continue while the player receives treatment.

Quite frankly, yeah. Man up. I got the wind knocked out of me plenty of times while playing keeper. It sucks. Just sit up straight, take 30 seconds, and buck up.

Re: World Soccer XVI: The Sadness

Let's be fair here. The far right hates soccer because it's not an "American" sport. The far left hates soccer because it encourages nationalism and patriotism.

I'm as a liberal as they come and I love soccer. The right hates soccer because you can't do the American thing and outmuscle people by taking steroids and beat people into submission like you can in American sports like football and basketball. :D

But I do see your point, Red Cloud. I totally do. I was just referencing a blog I saw.

Re: World Soccer XVI: The Sadness

He's like the German Rossi, right?

Yeah, but I honestly don't think he's good enough to play for them. I'd guess they were more upset at him for injuring their captain Michael Ballack (also a superdoosh btw) and knocking him out of the World Cup.

Right, but as RC pointed out, they stretcher guys off so that the game can continue while they're being treated. Instead the game should stop every time that happens?

For those who don't know, Ghana means Warrior King. Go Warrior King! Take it to 'em!

Rule of thumb: Don't act like you broke your neck when you just have the wind knocked out of you and you won't have a problem.

Right, but sometimes guys are actually injured and not just acting like they're hurt more severely than they are.
