Re: World Soccer XIII: Through the Group Stages

Great shot of Americans and Brits serving together in Afghanistan watching the game.

And they say Americans don't care about soccer. Those guys are having a good time.

Re: World Soccer XIII: Through the Group Stages

I thought that was brazil the guy got killed. I suppose it was columbia now that I think about it.

It was Andres Escobar, the Columbian defender who gave up the own-goal in the US game at the '94 Cup. Reportedly, when he was killed the gunmen shouted "Own Goal" after every shot.

Re: World Soccer XIII: Through the Group Stages

If Green comes back in goal for the second half for England I'd be surprised.
England ought to put him directly on a plane back to the UK.
That was an awful goal.
(I'll take it though.)

Subs are very fragile in the World Cup. They've already subbed in Wright-Phillips, so they are down to 2. I would be quite surprised if Fabio used one to replace a keeper.

England has already used one substitute. I doubt they burn their second one with 45 to play, but you never know.

RIght, after I thought about it for a while I realized it was columbia I just always think brazil for some reason.

Re: World Soccer XIII: Through the Group Stages

You can't waste a sub on Green unless you truly think that he is mentally done.

Going to a cold keeper doesn't make sense. Just hope to tough it out.

Re: World Soccer XIII: Through the Group Stages

They did burn their 2nd sub, but not in goal. Kind of a thin line to walk with an entire half left.

Re: World Soccer XIII: Through the Group Stages

Not that wikipedia is a bastion of accuracy, but they say it's just "goal"

Both recalls of guys who came in sub-healthy, so arguably both were on the coach.

I forget, does Milner carry his yellow one more game?
