Re: World Soccer XIII: Through the Group Stages

So is there a poster consensus of who'll be the other starting forward with Jozy tomorrow?

Findley. We need the speed.

I'm pretty impressed with Uruguay. Very well organized defense and creativity up front. They could be playing pretty close to July.

I can really see the arguments for each guy. I think I'd go Altidore-Findley, but Altidore-Buddle would probably be just as good. Wouldn't necessarily mind Altidore-Gomez either, but with the way Herculez has scored off the bench, I think that's more his role.

Re: World Soccer XIII: Through the Group Stages

My friend just came in and said, "It sounds like a swarm of angry bees."

If the US gets the bid in 2022, we'll have to come up with a cheering device about 10 times more annoying than thundersticks.

Re: World Soccer XIII: Through the Group Stages

More pressure from France, but Uruguay pretty "organized" on d.

Re: World Soccer XIII: Through the Group Stages

I haven't been impressed at all by Ribery. He's lost possession on poor passes a number of times.

Re: World Soccer XIII: Through the Group Stages

Lodeiro for Gonzalez is a good move. Gonzalez was having trouble holding up the ball in the midfield.

Re: World Soccer XIII: Through the Group Stages

Henry for Anelka. Anelka was pretty quiet. I wouldn't put that on him, France's transition to the front has certainly been lacking. Henry won't make much difference if the French midfield can't distribute better.

I think France's problems have more to do with Uruguay's seamless defense between the central mids and the back four than with the quality of distribution. How many French players have you seen between midfield and defense? Uruguay isn't just packing in nine guys on defense. The six they have are just really good.

LOL

guy got two yellows in about 15 minutes of playing time

In local, Virginia news:

British Ambassador to U.S. visits the College of William and Mary, receives honorary gift. He seemed to work out the significance of his number, judging by his expression. :p

Goodness, Ribery is doing nothing of value.
