World Soccer XII: South Africa Awaits

Re: World Soccer XII: South Africa Awaits

Got some money riding on Fulham/Spurs today - let's go Cottagers!

Man, every time I see those ESPN ads for the World Cup, I just get so excited.

Don Garber is getting sick of the political reach around in DC:

http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=760526&sec=mls&cc=5901

"I am tired of going down to meetings and getting my back slapped and [going to] faux press conferences with mayors and local city officials to have them backtrack on that because they can't get out of their own way," he said. "And quite frankly, it's frustrating. And at some point, we are doing to have to do something about it."

Re: World Soccer XII: South Africa Awaits

Fulham up 1-0 at the half; it'd be something if we could win this one.

Bentley and Pavlyuchenko both score on their first touches after coming on in the second half. 2-1 Spurs!

Re: World Soccer XII: South Africa Awaits

I hate Heurelho Gomes. He sucks against everyone else but he's the second coming of Lev Yashin against us.

Re: World Soccer XII: South Africa Awaits

Chelsea are ruining Pompey's day with a 3-0 pounding. Everton are beating City and I love it. Villa is screwing the pooch by drawing Sunderland.

Re: World Soccer XII: South Africa Awaits

Well that sucked. Hope Spurs win the thing, better them than Chelsea.

Re: World Soccer XII: South Africa Awaits

Disgusting, embarrassing, futile, and despicable performance from City today. What a waste of an afternoon.

Another March swoon for Villa. They miss Gabby greatly. They are a set piece team and they just aren't getting it to click...headers that would have gone in the net 2 months ago are sailing just wide or just high.

They have won exactly one game total in the month of March over the last two years - MON is running them too thin, Downing, Dunne and Milner looked like studs a month ago, now they are barely noticed.

Re: World Soccer XII: South Africa Awaits

Moyes and Mancini got into it. I'd take Moyes easy if they ever came to blows. I wonder if there are any odds on that. Wait a second... it's England. They have odds for EVERYTHING!!!

Re: World Soccer XII: South Africa Awaits

Another good crowd in Seattle for the MLS opener. Philly had some nice possession, but are down 1-0. The FieldTurf looks pretty tricky in the rain.

Can't say I'm a fan of the gold pants.

EDIT: Uh oh. Philly down a man now, and we're not even to halftime yet...

EDIT 2: Boom.

So, Philly doesn't look too bad, all things considered. Aside from those gold pants. Yeesh.

Re: World Soccer XII: South Africa Awaits

Their unis would be pretty cool if it weren't for the shorts.

They get carded in their first minute of play. They get their first red in their 40th minute in their history. Something tells me that these guys will be very popular in Philly.

Re: World Soccer XII: South Africa Awaits

That Seattle crowd is like a European crowd, chanting and singing the whole time. Very nice

Re: World Soccer XII: South Africa Awaits

It's going to be a struggle for Philly this year. Especially if they spend a lot of time playing with 10 men. A really young team though, hopefully McInereny earns a bunch of playing time.

Also read today that they have sold over 30,000 for their home opener at the Linc. That's great news.
