World Juniors - Buffalo 2018

Re: World Juniors - Buffalo 2018

Lots of “me” Hockey out there. Guys trying to go 1v2 instead of deploying patience and teamwork.

- Hughes may be a great skater, but was constantly out of position and needs to pass the puck more.
- Yamamoto continues to choke in big moments. Basically fanned on a wide open net. I would move him down in the line-up.
- Woll was subpar. Needs to be better.

Frustrating to watch last night. I saw a team panic and turn selfish when it mattered most.

unless that shot was screened.. (i did not get good look from tv angle provided).. looks like bit of mental lapse by Oettinger to get up like that at last moment when puck coming squarely at you. softie. well, still early.

He has been mediocre at BU just like Woll at BC...The kid playing the best hasn't played yet.

Re: World Juniors - Buffalo 2018

Too bad about these conditions, yes both teams are playing in it...but IF it was a exhibition game before the WJC I could understand it....but for this to take away from 2 teams that make this Tourney tick...just too bad that most likely a fluke goal or poor ice will cost one of these teams a game in the standings...oh well that's life these days...GIMMACKS instead of a pure great game of hockey. Glad to see USA back in it...next ten minutes will be intense...condition wise and who makes/cashes in on it.

Re: World Juniors - Buffalo 2018

After last night and the first period today, was worried about a blowout. Glad I was wrong! Despite the S-N-O-W Team USA pulled it out.

Re: World Juniors - Buffalo 2018

Good to see Oettinger rebound from a bit of a shaky start. Tkachuk's shootout goal was sweet.

A good win, nice comeback, in ridiculous conditions. The only game I've seen that was worse was when BU played Maine in the pouring rain at Fenway. Please don't ever play an outdoor game again in such a bog tournament. Yes, it's a novelty, but all skill level was removed from the game.

Standings-wise, Canada is still in the drivers seat, since their loss still got them a point. Assuming they beat Denmark, they finish first. USA finishes second if they beat Finland, I assume.
