World Juniors 2019 Vancouver

Re: World Juniors 2019 Vancouver

And just in case anyone cared, seeing how I didn't see it posted here: Germany will be replacing whomever is relegated.

Re: World Juniors 2019 Vancouver

I doubt it would have a material impact on U20 performances.

Something like a coaching change or even like two impact players the same age would cause a bigger change.

I more meant just positive momentum for the country with hockey more than directly tying the two events together.

Sorry.

Germany could put three first-round types on the ice for next season's tournament. Forward Dominic Bokk was a 2018 first-rounder of St Louis, current DEL defenseman Moritz Seider is a projected first-rounder next summer (19th, Hockey's Future) and UNH recruit Tim Stutzle has some projecting him to be a high first-rounder in 2020 (he is currently putting up nearly 3 PPG, at 16, in the German U20 league - for comparison, Draisitil was 1.6 PPG at the same age in U18s)...

With a few more prospects who could be top-half of the draft types in each of the next two seasons, I wouldnt necessarily expect Germany to be the odd-team out after next year's tournament...

---

Stutzle was injured and did not play for Germany in the D1 Tournament this year. He's supposed to play in Sioux City next winter...

Pull a good run together, and anything could happen. Denmark hasn't been doing TOO badly as of late (minus giving up two touchdowns on Canada and two safeties on Russia). All you really need to do is survive the powerhouses and try to steal one against the others. Might be a tough call with Czechs and Swiss, but you never know.

Re: World Juniors 2019 Vancouver

Canada hangs on for 3-2 win vs. gritty Switzerland club.
Canada was lucky, during the Swiss PP at the end of the game a Swiss kid had his leg hooked completely out from under him and no call. Should have been 5 on 3!
Officiating this tournament has been HORRENDOUS! Seems there are just as many bad calls as there are non calls.

Re: World Juniors 2019 Vancouver

With Canada running up 14 goals, is it safe to assume that total goals scored is a standings tie breaker? If not, the Canadian Coach should be taken to task for that number.

It's Canada. It's hockey. Nobody will be taking anybody to task, whether it's a tiebreaker or not. They relish in pounding anyone as much as they can to demonstrate their superiority.

Don't you mean their imagined superiority? :p

Followed by jumping on the highest horses to loudly declare that the field should be trimmed and said pounded team should no longer be allowed to participate in 'their' tournament...

Only if there is a 3 team circular tie. Otherwise, head to head wins.

I thought they did that for curling. Oh wait :)
