In my opinion, the ball was cut out too early to say that Iniesta had involved himself in the play. I rather suspect that the same play would have been made regardless of his presence there, as that sort of ball is dangerous and there's likely to be someone lurking toward the back post.
Question: Could the scoring play have been ruled offsides on the first attempt to get the ball to Iniesta? The defender stepped in and intercepted the ball but could it be argued that it was played to an offsides player and the interception doesn't make the play onsides? The offsides player doesn't have to touch the ball, just be 'in the play', correct? I have to go watch it again tonight, just going from memory.
Not trying to say it should have been that way, just asking.
