Wonder why hockey east attendance is down at 15$ a whack ?????

Re: Wonder why hockey east attendance is down at 15$ a whack ?????

True they won't get that price unless it's linked to a fundraiser. Still, it's ND vs UMN-TC they might get $150. After all the fees a ticket from Ticketmaster for that game is still $38 for Standing Room Only lower level.

If that's the case, I might sell my ticket to that game. $150? Yes, please. That'd cover my food/drink expenses <strike>for the weekend</strike> <strike>for two of the days</strike> for one day of the F5.

Re: Wonder why hockey east attendance is down at 15$ a whack ?????

Lowell and Providence both had better crowds than their season average last night...if you are living in the real world I don't think that the attendance is that bad...you are still talking about a potential three game series, and that is going to dilute things a bit...if I was a casual fan I would probably be more interested in attending the deciding game..

UML is on spring break. PC's spring break just ended and the attendance was higher than usual (small rink, basketball school, put your excuse here). Not sure about UNH.
UNH's attendance was a paltry 0. :D

Do you have on the glass tickets? Remember those are "on the glass" if your in row 2 you are not getting $150. Even before even know if it's Sioux verse Gophers the cheapest seat in the lower level/club is $79 on stub hub.

One day, I hope you are planning on eating at Jimmy John's. :D

In 2007 (?) when it was UND-MN title game (Wheeler goal), some people upper deck on the ends bought off the street for $50 (which was the going rate). Face was $10. Add inflation and increase of face value....I could see triple digits for any ticket. Insane? Yeah. Remember, SRO for the regular season matchup this year was around $50-60 for a ticket at Mariucci on the street.

Re: Wonder why hockey east attendance is down at 15$ a whack ?????

I swear there were over 6000 people at the Tsongas last night. Either way, we all know the QF games in Hockey East never draw crowds.

Re: Wonder why hockey east attendance is down at 15$ a whack ?????

You could make these games $5 and they still wouldn't draw well

100% correct. The QF round traditionally does not generate big crowds. It's not a format that, in particular, does not generate the interest of casual fans.

SRO for that series was $55 from the ticket office. Highway robbery.

Face value on my season tickets was $45. They obviously didn't over charge on the standing room seats since that series was packed both nights. They knew most of the fans buying the standing room seats were UND fans so why not get all the $ you can out of them. When other teams host the Gophers, their ticket prices are the highest for any game of the year so it works both ways. Wait until we don't play UND for a few years, they can charge even more when they eventually do come back for a series.

When your arena (PC) only holds 2,000 during the season because of fire code, and 3,000 max, it's not hard to beat your season average. BU's ticket was actually $28 since all tickets have a $2 facility fee, plus if you order online you have to pay TM fees, which brings it up to $34+ per ticket. Add in parking costs and you have an absolutely ridiculous pricing scheme. And no, Hockey East does not set the price. They may get the revenue, but teams are clearly setting their own prices.

Re: Wonder why hockey east attendance is down at 15$ a whack ?????

If Hockey East doesn't actually set the prices (which I agree with, they don't)...why do they get the revenue? Seems like they should either set the prices and receive the revenue or not set the prices and not receive the revenue. Do we know for sure that the league does in fact get ALL ticket revenue for these games?

Don't know, maybe they get a percentage, or get X dollars per ticket, and the team can price higher than that as they choose?

That's what I would guess (get a percentage).

Even with fees, it's $34? You guys have it so lucky, I'm serious.

Closer to $35, but yes. By far the most expensive in HE. Thing is, for the casual hockey fan, you can drive two miles down the street and get a BC ticket for $10. It's not like Minnesota where they're the only game within 60 miles, there's numerous other college hockey options nearby at far lower prices for someone who wants to see a game. Particularly youth teams, they're not going to shell out that kind of cash when they can pay less for a Lowell or BC game.

Re: Wonder why hockey east attendance is down at 15$ a whack ?????

The "we refuse to watch/care about non-professional sports" attitude in parts of the NE is sickening...

Yay! Finally someone who acknowledges what I've been saying now for 10 years!!!!!!!!!!

A ticket to a BC game is $10 and a ticket to a BU game is $35??!!! Woah.

Re: Wonder why hockey east attendance is down at 15$ a whack ?????

Yeah, I really don't know what the original issue was. $15 is the regular rate at Lowell and at UNH a regular season ticket is $24 ($26 if they're playing BC, BU, or Maine). BU's quarterfinal price is $26 I believe which is consistent with their regular season price.
UNH's ticket prices have been grossly inflated for years and between the combo of ticket price & spring break quarterfinals have never drawn well at the Whitt. Their worst attendance since 1998 (as far back as I could find figures for) was UNH-UVM quarterfinal game 3 on 3/14/2010: 2,531 http://www.uscho.com/box/mens-hockey/2010/03/14/vermont-vs-new-hampshire/

FWIW, a Sunday game generally draws a pretty poor crowd anywhere in Hockey East; but that is just abysmal.
