Women's DIII 2010-2011 Fan Opinion Poll

Re: Women's DIII 2010-2011 Fan Opinion Poll

I don't see how Manhattanville is still being ranked. Their only "good" win is against Elmira early in the season. They got beat pretty handily by Plattsburgh, lost to NEC and Trinity. I don't see why Mville would be ranked and not NEC either..i suppose.

Re: Women's DIII 2010-2011 Fan Opinion Poll

With 4 games remaining that could influence The Top 15 In The Berry Patch only the top 4 are locks for the upcoming poll. Although I think RIT is still the best team out there, There's going to be a new leader.

1. UWRF .969 (combined %)
2. RIT .928
3. Platty .760
4. Trinity .750

Re: Women's DIII 2010-2011 Fan Opinion Poll

1) RIT
2) Wisconsin-River Falls
3) Plattsburgh
4) Middlebury
5) Amherst
6) Norwich
7) Gustavus Adolphus
8) Elmira
9) Manhattanville
10) Superior

I'll update this if anything interesting happens Tuesday.

I would put River-Falls at 1st after this weekend if they had won that game against St. Norbert. However, I think two ties vs Plattsburgh is better than 1 tie (and 1 win) against St. Norbert. I can understand why some may put them ahead though.

Based upon the above quote it is obvious that you feel it appropriate to question other people's polls, so here's a question for you. You retain Trinity in th 4 spot for the 2nd straight week despite a loss and tie in Maine. Whats up with that?

like derek i forgot that happened. Furthermore, I didn't question anyones poll..I just kind of made a statement. I realized outside the top 8 or 9, its really hard to decided who to put in that 9 or 10 spot. Superior really appears to be the 3rd best team in the west, many people aren't ranking them for teams that haven't really beaten a good team, or did a long time ago but haven't in the near past....or because of the name of their school. I'm not saying Superior should be ranked in peoples polls, but just kind of curious how manhattanville can be in there. Should middlebury? probably but again like last year...they lost to Elmira..who just tied Neumann, lost to Platty, and split with Amherst...and how good is Amherst really??

Trinity, and I offer this as backround, not an excuse, did have a weird week prior to the Maine trip. A woman on the team's brother passed away and the team made an unexpected trip to the Buffalo area for the funeral. So, bus Hartford to Buffalo, back to Hartford and then on to Waterville; not the best pre-weekend prep, but pretty classy of the coach. I did not see their Colby game, but they did not play their best hockey (and I have seen them beat Manhattanville and Norwich) against Bowdoin on Sunday.

You are preaching to the choir with me, Bear. I love the Bantams, and I think they did a real classy thing going to Buffalo. I did drop them a slot in my poll. It just seems so random when GoJackets questions why others list teams the way they do and then he puts Trinity at #4.

I did not know about their crazy travel week. What a classy coach and what great support by the team. I am going to slightly revise my list, so Mania, please disregard my previous poll and use the below as my offering this week:

1. RIT
2. Plattsburgh
3. UWRF
4. Amherst
5. Middlebury
6. Norwich
7. Elmira
8. Gustavus
9. Trinity
10. Manhattanville

This will be a big week for Trinity hosting Middlebury on Saturday.

Re: Women's DIII 2010-2011 Fan Opinion Poll

Somewhat tangentially off topic, but can someone enlighten the uninformed, such as myself, who the people/coaches/muckity-mucks (and their positions) are that make up the voting panel for the USCHO rankings for DIII Women's hockey? Thanks! :)
