Women's DI Rankings/Polls 2012-2013

Re: Women's DI Rankings/Polls 2012-2013

The other way to look at it is that Harvard's coach and three players miss the season for the Olympics.

There is that :)

Mercyhurst is the team that I think is ranked too low.

And based on today's news about their injury issues, BU are almost certainly too high. (And I think NE too high and Providence too low, FWIW).

Re: Women's DI Rankings/Polls 2012-2013

North Dakota is WAY too high. This is the first time in a quarter century that they won't have the Lams.

My guess is that you don't know much about North Dakota outside of the twins. It is very similar to the BC situation. Each team is missing a star up front (JLam/Carpenter) and on the blue line (MLam/Bolden). Dufault is similar to Skarupa; both are big-time players. Karvinen is as good as anyone. Jakobsen doesn't always stand out on the ice, but at the end of the day, she has her points. Having seen both teams' goalies, I'd say that they are comparable. Where UND has needed help is on the blue line, and a couple of the recruits on D have international U-18 experience. Overall, I think the UND recruiting class is a bit stronger than that of BC, but it is just a guess because I don't get to see all of the players. UND could crash and burn or win it all, but the same is true of BC.

On D I think UND has two nice upgrades a transfer from Syracuse Jr Christina LaCombe and Frosh Halli Krzyaniak. What impresses me is they only have a couple of seniors so should be strong like BC next couple of years.

you are only proving your ignorance, North Dakota came ever so close to winning it all last year, and if anything, is ranked too low
they were #2 at the end last year and if you disagree, let me remind you, BU & BC couldn't even beat UMD, the 5th place WCHA team

ditto to everything said in the above post except the point must be made, their defense & goalie improved dramatically over the last half of the year
kiss your backside that idiocy reigned and they had to play the Gophers in the 1/4 finals last year, otherwise, it would have been an all WCHA final

but it's your loss you didn't get to see them play, then you'd know they are and were far more than the Twins

You didn't include Gracen Hirschy, a US U-18 defenseman. She is a talented offensive defenseman (sometimes a bit of a liability defensively, but well worth it).

make that 4 upgrades on D, freshmen:
Lisa Marvin Warroad, MN AP player of the year
Gracen Hirschy who was on the U18 team

& Krzyaniak was part of Canada's National Development Camp, if that means anything :)

and forwards:
Susanna Tapani from the Finnish National team
Kayla Gardner Warroad, Mn
Amy Menke Shakopee, MN USA U18
Nicole Novak who will apparently be a redshirt
and a pair of freshmen goalies (their freshman goalie last year almost got them to the NCAA semifinal, what's up with that??)
Lexie Shaw Honeybaked
Annie Chipman St. Mary's Academy, MB

as good a class as anybody, and they got help where they need it

Curious to see where the USCHO poll has UND. I think they're better than #5. Agree with pokechecker particularly regarding their goaltending in the latter season and post season. Another position Idalski may have fortified.

Never thought of Marvin as a D and the UND roster lists her at F.

That's a really solid attempt at trolling, but try to be more subtle next time so that people can at least KIND OF take you seriously.

For the record I watched UND play about 3-4 times last year.
