Yes she’s making her hometown proud. Front page of the print newspaper the other day. Knight’s about to get a big point on her next one.

I was texting with my sister during the game, and I said something like "it's pretty remarkable how many of the players on the ice today, both teams, and more generally in the tournament, that I've been able to see play in person sitting at LaBahn". Then I thought about it for a minute, and realized I had to add "... or at the Kohl Center".
LOL.
(Yes, Hilary Knight goes back far enough that she never played at LaBahn as a Badger. Natalie Spooner, as well.)

I don't think Barnes will be on the team in 2030. Winn will, but if they don't find another couple RHD in the pool for the future, it might be best if she sticks there.

While I understand the angst involved with Edwards playing D for Badger fans, having seen her at the Olympics, I think that the potential that she shows on the blue line is too large to simply write off. How does an opponent attempt to match up against her when she's playing D? Physically, she is difficult to neutralize with the size, strength, and reach; there might be a D or F that you'd like out there against her, but that's not easy to accomplish. From the back, she can create chances without needing to be set up by teammates. She also has an innate ability to accomplish what John Wooden preached of being quick but not hurrying. It's not that she is quick per se, but she manages to slow the game down to the pace she wants by holding the puck but not panicking when pressure comes. We'll have to see more and her defensive game overall has room to improve, but it is possible that she can be a gamechanger back there. On the same roster as Harvey ... yikes.

IMO, Edwards and Harvey playing D at the same time wouldn't be a good idea; both are too offensive-minded. Harvey is able to do what she does offensively with UW because spends most of her time on the ice with Vivian Jungels, and Jungels is a very solid stay-at-home defender. Edwards wouldn't be nearly as good 'covering' for Harvey while Harvey is attacking the net, etc.

The attention being paid to Edwards in her hometown is fantastic.
Last night I skated a HS game in the rink Tessa Janecke played youth hockey before she went off to NAHA. I expected to see a "Go Tessa" banner or maybe a USA #22 sweater on display.
There was nothing. Literally zero recognition of their small-town kid turned Olympian (that I could see).
I think Edwards is an interesting project at defense.
There's no time for that in what remains of her career at UW - the players get back for the playoffs and I believe Johnson sees her as a forward. She'll play for UW in the position that best helps UW.
She's looked fine... even good at times in the Olympics but the US really hasn't faced any pushback yet - including from Canada. If Canada gets their act together in time for the gold medal game, that will be a better indication on how things are going.
Not sure they will though as Canada can poo poo the Rivalry Series games all they want but the US has beaten them what... 6 straight now including last year's Worlds? And convincingly at that.
I hope they don't get their act together - would love to see our women get gold and even crush Canada in the process.

They played together against the rodents in that 1 awful game and it was truly horrendous. Now sure Edwards has surely learned from it and is a coachable young lady, but I'd still not pair them together. I was watching Edwards closely last night and she'd sink down plenty of times and float back up to the blue line while KK was rocketing around uninhibited with F's covering for her. Then of course she comes out of nowhere and is right back where she is supposed to be.
Am I wrong in thinking the Rodents, THSNBN and UW (with full college rosters) could all beat Canada at this point?
Most assuredly you are wrong on that haha. Assuming you mean UWs current roster by themselves against Canada.
Realize that the veterans on team USA give the youngsters a lot of room to do their thing - they make it so much easier for everyone to play freely.
That's one of the reasons that I'm not sold on us learning much about Edwards as a D at this point coz she's got all the room in the world right now for her game.
A combo team of the 3 teams' rosters might give Canada a decent go though.
There is certainly a different level of talent coming up through the ranks than what preceded it but they aren't there yet as college aged women or at least there aren't enough of them on each of their teams.
Hopefully they join the fun in celebrating before it is too late. It is definitely rewarding to see the energy for Laila locally. Her rink she played youth hockey at had a watch party for the Finland game. And the local women’s sports bar is having watch parties too.
I think theres lots going on with Cleveland going all in.
1- Laila’s earned it and should be celebrated of course
2- she’s Clevelands 3rd women’s hockey Olympian and we are trying to make up for not celebrating the others like we should have
3- the lady that ran the Barons is doing a lot to get press for Laila. Everyone needs a hype team. Laila has one.
4- USA hockey just came to town in the fall, and did a lot of priming the press then
5- local girls hockey lovers are praying this is a catalyst to advance our local girls scene so we are talking it up everywhere
It’s not too late for Tessa’s hometown to get on board. Or maybe the after tour if they win gold.

I'm not surprised since the first I head of it was at the game on Saturday.
Wisconsin fans are historically terrible at whiteout or stripe out - even with plenty of notice.
Hoops... football... hockey...
I think some of the old farts only have red gear and that's what they're gonna wear no matter what.

I'm an old fart, and - before digital tickets - used to buy football tickets out on Monroe or Breese Terrace. One game was going to be a 'stripe out'; red or white depending on the section. So, what to do? I wore two shirts, red and white, so I could have the correct one on the outside, once I knew what section I'd be in.
I had white on last weekend. They did a poor job of publicizing it. You want people to wear white on Sunday? Don't give away the white t-shirts on Saturday, do it ON SUNDAY!
Age has nothing to do with it.
