Wisconsin Women's Hockey 2024-2025

Part of me thinks he'd like another kick at the can with the senior class he has teed up for next year. On the other hand, it is getting harder and harder to win a title. There were times looking at the field when I wondered who was even going to come close to giving UW a game in the tourney. Instead, the Badgers needed all of their firepower to come out on top, and we can point to a lot of small plays that might have led to a different outcome. If he chases "one more" and it somehow slips away next year, then what? I think he'll be back, but I'm less convinced of that than I was earlier. Especially since he swept all three titles this year, and that has proven more difficult with the passing of time.
MJ is not about stats or history, or perhaps even winning. He's about the process of a season of development. Knowing this, he's not the type of guy who wants to go out with a bang. It's never about him. it's about the players. When it's time, it's time and he'll quietly walk away. I think he'll walk away at the end of the season. He won't want a farewell tour. That would make the season about him, and he's not going to do that.

If I may barge in, that’s the finest tribute one can pay to any coach. I’ve only seen the like in Little League baseball, years ago. There, of course, development had to come first, since there was initially so little talent. Not quite the same at Wisco.

BTW, has he ever imitated a pogo stick before? Awesome game.

The contrast between SWSNBN and MJ is evident. Isn't it?

Has anyone come across any Natty swag besides Fanatics? I found something on facebook that is supercool, but I'm not sure I trust it.
Are they going to do the up close and personal Natty trophy appearance at Camp Randall this year? They had lots of official swag there in 2023. Cami Kronish was going through the racks buying for friends and family.

Yeah... I don't want/need a shirt.

Generally, championship teams make our basement wall but we still have nothing for women's hockey (or volleyball).

Would like a print of the traditional "team with the trophy" photo or a reasonably tasteful poster.

I see that '23 pint glasses are still avail - a 2025 pint glass would be cool.

I've gotten emails from University Bookstore, from Bucky's Locker Room, and at least one other (that I don't recall).

Bucky's Locker Room is an 'unusual' case. There are stores by that name inside the Kohl Center, and inside the south endzone structure in the stadium at Camp Randall. But thy are also somehow associated with the store Insignia on State Street, and "Name Of The Game" at WestTown Mall in Madison and Mayfair in Wauwatosa. AND if you go to the Bucky's Locker Room web site, it says "A Fanatics Experience".

I was at the Bucky's at Camp Randall yesterday, and among other shirts, etc, they had t-shirts with the same "eight star" logo the team members were holding up on the ice post game. So, Bucky's/Insignia/Fanatics are about as official as you could want.

My motto is "your team wins a championship, you get a t-shirt". LOL

My two sisters went to St Norbert's, so when they won DIII championships years ago, I got t-shirts for them. I know my t-shirt from 2011 is still hanging in there; not sure about 2009. As I was just saying to Tim, I was at Buck'y Locker Room yesterday, to get the 'required' 2025 t-shirt.

The Athletic/NYT had a behind-the-scenes article about Muzerall and the team at the FF. The article says that Muzerall did a post-game press conference after the loss, but I haven't been able to find any record of that press conference. Anywhere. I was interested in what she had to say.
Here's the full article if you can get behind the paywall. https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6233643/2025/03/27/ohio-state-womens-hockey-wisconsin-frozen-four/
Yea it’s a bummer they didn’t post it. Same for after the Cornell win. They don’t seem to have a YouTube channel for their program. A press conference definitely happened; it’s required. You can also read some of the quotes in other articles like what Haase posted on USCHO.

Here's my dilemma. Our Daughter is a wiz on the web and she found this site with crazy cool swag, like mind blowing....gifnestbuys (when you click on hockey, it takes you right to the UW stuff). It looks very legit with the breathe of swag they have (although them asking for a tip is a bit crazy and the shipping cost is shockingly low)(if you like the Brewers, check out the cool Bob Uecker stuff). Their reviews are 40% UW, 40% BSU (negatives are wrong size shipped, custom item not done right, can't talk to anyone to resolve, no email responses to issue resolution. No issues with money). It's probably stuff from China made on the cheap, the prices are good. I ordered an Iron Brigade flag and a custom German hockey jersey once from a similar site, affiliated with Amazon, they took months to get to me but they were perfect. I may order one item and see what happens. What are my fellow Natty brethren's thoughts?

I can't seem to figure out how to "gift" the article, which I can sometimes do with NYT content. Too bad because it really is quite interesting. Of course, it's mostly centered on what a kind, loving, considerate, and excellent person Nadine is at all times, so it's more of a feel-good piece than an actual news article.

The NCAA should post all of these press conferences.

I must have found the same 40% good reviews 40% bad reviews that you did. At least the bad weren't "I gave them my credit card number, and next thing I knew, I had all these bogus charges appearing. Had to cancel the card", etc.

But still, that's a lot of negative reviews!

One thing that often works on a desktop PC is click on the link, and then hit CTRL-P as quick as you can to "print" the article as quickly after clicking the link. If the timing is good, the 'print preview' page has the article before the 'firewall' message blocked the text.

So, I read the article, and one 'anecdote' has me a bit puzzled.

It says that while the rest of the team got together to watch the NCAA selection show, she was at 'the hospital' watching the show with an injured player. It doesn't give a name, and doesn't give any more detail. Is that meant to imply that the player was injured in their most recent game, or a more long-term injury? Because their last game prior to the selection show was when they got destroyed by Minnesota in the WCHA semi in Duluth. And gave the post-game answers where she said her team quit and embarrassed themselves, etc. And then the rumor was she took the bus to the hotel by herself, leaving the team to wait at Amsoil for a second trip. If the player got hurt badly enough in that game, wouldn't they have been in a hospital in Duluth? And who was injured that badly in that game? Or are they talking about someone injured prior to the trip to Duluth, and missed the entire weekend? Was any Buckeye player out of the lineup for the WCHA final four (or longer)?

The eight stars are subtle. Probably a little too subtle. I didn't even notice them at first.

At the thing at LaBahn on Monday, they had a version with all eight banners. I thought that one was cool, but IIRC, it was on a gray tee, which is not as good as red.

Somewhere around the time the UW men's team moved from the WCHA to the Big Ten hockey conference, there was an article that talked about how their jerseys would have six stars on the back, for their six national championships. (I think it said that they used to do that in the past, but had gone away from it for a time. But I could have that wrong.) That's when I became 'aware' of the association the UW Athletic Dept was making an association between stars and championships.

So when the players and support people were out on the ice after the 2023 national championship with such a 'logo', I saw the seven-star design immediately (and thought to myself how they must have been way more confident - or at least prepared - than I was about the possibilities than I was that day LOL). Again last week, I saw the eight stars on the new logo immediately.

Somebody's working on a nine-star logo as we speak. :-)
