Wisconsin Women's Hockey 2023-2024

Wisconsin has missed on a couple golden opportunities in this game and going 0 for in the power play is not a strategy to win. Ava has been huuuge.

It's kind of driving me a little crazy that against these really good teams our first period is one we usually are handily outshot in. I mean last night it wasn't like we were bottled up for long periods of time in the first period, our shots got deflected or missed the target. They've survived every one of those situations to date. Special teams was the agony and the ecstasy yesterday. I do believe in the first power play we had a tremendous back door opportunity that the shot did not work out for some reason. They never showed a replay on that. Ava was outstanding.

Overall the flow that game was horrible. So many penalties pucks going into the benches icings offsides and we had just no flow.

Odds for tomorrows’s game: Ohio state -210, Wisconsin +160. I’m quite surprised, as I thought it would be much closer to a coin flip. Maybe it’s more of an indication of the casual bettor’s tendency of wagering on the favorite especially on lightly followed sports moreso than Wisconsin’s lackluster play last night.

Pretty surprised that OB got pretty dominated in the face off circle.

I've heard more than once recently they're kind of defensive strategy for getting out of the zone once in awhile is just a chip it out and hope for the best which I guess works in some circumstances but I much rather prefer a pass to a friendly stick.

I'm sitting at the Admirals game in Milwaukee just watching the Badger game on my phone lol. Bad refereeing in period one - multiple missed calls on OSU. Other than that I don't think you can be too disappointed with how that period went.

Both teams more dangerous in the second. OSU definitely could have some complaints for the officials now as well, they are certainly letting them play out there.

I'm proud of the season the Badgers had but that was a tough way to end it. They looked absolutely gassed in the third - they were so so so sloppy with the puck the whole period. There were multiple good looks that just died because of bad/confusing decisions with the puck. I don't know how to explain it other than fatigue, because they certainly are capable of executing better than they did tonight. I despise Ohio State and wish all of their teams nothing but Ls from now until eternity; I think I would probably rather lose to anyone else in this situation, even Minnesota.

Refs forgot their whistles at the motel so a penalty-less championship was a bit unexpected. They played well, some puck handling problems might have made the difference. They should be very proud of the year they put together. On Wisconsin!

2 really good teams. Badgers didn’t play their best but you have to credit OSU for that as we never able to set up in own zone.

Team has a chance to be really special next year as Britta is the only forward whose eligibility is over. Be interesting to see what O’Brien and Wheeler do.

Losing 3 on back line with only 1 coming in. I assume a D in the portal is a possibility.

goaltending will obviously be a strength. I assume MJ is coming back?

I love that they let them play and didn’t call any penalties. I don’t think they missed any egregious calls on either side.

I agree with this post 100%.

The one play that I had going through my head last night while I was trying to sleep was in the 2nd period KK had a grade A shooter's look and promptly shot it into the goalie's stomach.

3rd period, pass across the crease by Jungels (I think it was) to Eden back door that Buglioni *just* gets a touch on, putting it three inches away from where Eden was expecting it. No three inch deflection and Eden scores.

The margin between winning and losing in these games is just so small. The last four championship games have been one goal games. 2019 2-0 UW over Minnesota was the last one that wasn't one goal, and the year before that was Clarkson winning in OT.
