Probably means absolutely nothing but I happened to see a potential recruit Patrick Khodorenko (Detroit Honeybaked) joking about Wisconsin with his buddies on Twitter earlier.

I won't reveal my 98's draft list, but I don't think it would ruin anything by saying Khodorenko is near the top. Everyone familiar with kids at the U16 level agrees he's in the elite category of forwards, one of those blue-chip types we discussed yesterday. 100% chance the NTDP gives him an invite and he could pick whatever school he wanted to go to if he doesn't end up in the Western Hockey League (he's originally from California).

So, Heisenberg is listing Dylan Pavelek from the NTDP as an uncommitted player now. He was previously committed to Ohio State when Oz was the head coach. College Hockey Inc and the USHL website also list him as uncommitted. Very interesting...

USHR scouting report: "Elite skater, elite vision, and elite hands. Not a bad package to have. Distributes the puck well, but has the ability to make things happen out of nothing. He manufactures offense."

Was the 15th overall pick in the USHL Future's draft the same year Christian Dvorak went No. 6.

Pavelek is 5'11, 191 pounds from Marysville, Mich. Shows a line of 6-5-11 in 26 games this season.

Edit: Was told this decommit happened 2 months ago. Odd there wasn't more chatter about it.

You really like the term "blue chippah", I would say that is a great stretch to call Soleway a blue chip recruit.

I agree, I am just really excited about his upside, he's such a physical guy for a Fr, and he's going to score some goals, especially his So-Sr seasons. I see him as a 40-50 pt guy as an upperclassman. I see the Besse/Zullinick/Soleway line next year just killing it. Other than those 3 and Labate, whose gonna score? Yikes.

There's a couple names that haven't been brought up in this thread that I think might intrigue people. I'm in the process of moving this week/end so I'm super busy but hopefully I'll be able to talk to some junior coaches and get a better idea of the situation.

man...seeing those empty roster spots for next season on top of potential flight risks is scary. Hopefully Hughes and Sheehy will be in the fold soon??

There's a better chance you see Hughes than Sheehy, based on what I've gathered. It could certainly happen (both), but there really seems to be some conflicting rumors on UW's interest in Sheehy.

Sheehy should be a priority, IMO, but I'm not on the staff. I don't blame UW one bit for waiting until he had more USHL experience to see how he stacked up in that setting, but the kid continues to rack up points. I've talked to the Waterloo coaches and they really like him. Sheehy was 14 steps ahead of everyone else during the Elite League this season, and it was a great move by him to go to the USHL. It would have done him no good to dominate game in, game out all winter. Challenging himself in the USHL was the right move and he's still succeeding.

I've seen him play probably 15 times in the past 12 months and he keeps getting better and better. I have no doubt at this point he can step in next season and at least be a serviceable player in the Big Ten. It's those next three years where I think he'll really take off as a college player. He's not an NHL consideration, so you've got a four year guy who is going to score and put up points in college. Given UW's situation, the fact that he's not already locked up is puzzling to me.

Obviously none of us are privy to Wisconsin's recruiting board, so maybe there are a few options we don't know about. But if they don't go after Sheehy, I think that would be a mistake.

Thanks, obviously Hughes as a Canadian elite level player is not coming to Madison for anything less then a full scholarship. You have to wonder how much UW can really offer if Hughes jumps on taking one of the 18 full rides available? I'm not sure you can promise Kerdelies scholarship to anyone at this point....fist off you have to hope you can convince him he has room to improve by staying and even if he has indicated he is leaving...what if he gets hurt and has a lengthy rehab and decides he wants to come back instead of what might have been the current plans?

Hughes is a name that has been associated somewhat with UW for a little bit, but you have to wonder if there are other kids out there that UW has been quietly cultivating relationships with as hockey recruiting is not exactly like football where kids are getting interviewed all the time and even official/unofficial visits don't always generate media attention/awareness.

Hughes AND Sheehy would be a phenominal step toward addressing the gapping hole that right now is the forwards for next fall. I wouldn't expect either to come in and be 20-20 type kids, but at this point a couple 15-20 point true 18 year old frosh would not be half bad. I wonder if Sheehy could be added with a partial offer if no one leaves and a promise of a little more if Kerdelies, LaBate, or McCabe do leave early?

Shuey's been tweeting from Canada yesterday/today, obviously on a recruiting trip. Doing some rock-solid investigative work, he mentions watching TV with his mom. I'm pretty sure he's originally from Edmonton. Looking at the AJHL schedule today, Spruce Grove has a home game tonight. Cameron Hughes plays for Spruce Grove. Spruce Grove is a suburb of Edmonton. So, maybe Eaves told Shuey to go up to Hughes' house this weekend and don't leave until he's a Badger? I feel like it's not that crazy of an idea.

If Hartzog stays do you classify him as a F/D and maybe carry 22 skaters? You'd still need 4 F. How often do that many forwards commit in the calendar year they're coming? Now that I ask that, I'm sure someone will commit before the end of the month.

EDIT: I looked at bigger teams on Heisenberg's site. In 2012-13, CC brought in four forwards that played at least 20 games and it looks like the first of the four to commit was in March 2012.

Sheboygan's Collin Peters (Milwaukee Jr. Admirals U16) committed to Northern Michigan today. From what I heard some bigger schools had interest but the family wanted to make a commitment and pulled the trigger.

Saw Boeser play tonight vs. St. Thomas Academy...he was impressive. Took him a little while to get it going but was great the final two periods. Ended up with two goals and an assist in a 3-2 win. Really showed his all around offensive game with the assist on the game winner, beautiful saucer pass to the back door. Couple nice goals too, first one was an absolute snipe. He's really good at getting his shot off and he can really zing it. He's going to score a lot of goals in Madison.
