I think the fact too that Petersen is a very good goalie, he'd have no chance to topple Petersen to be the back-up. I think it's safe to say Petersen has way exceeded most people's expectations since he was a late addition to the recruiting books. I don't think UW has had such a quality pair of goalies since the Cujo/Derksen year. So then in Grunwald's So year, he'll be the guy, unless a Fr comes in to challenge, which it is assumed there will be.
With Soleway coming early, Zullinick's R-S and Besse coming, next year's class of F's looks WAY better than it did 6 months ago.
I think Rumpel and Peterson both play a factor in this. At some point, there just isn't need for 3 goalies when only 2 generally play. Yes, you will always have a third guy on the roster, but that third guy is a walkon/practice type.
