Wisconsin Hockey XXIX: Yes, this is the Rumpel Rink!

Re: Wisconsin Hockey XXIX: Yes, this is the Rumpel Rink!

Hi Boyz; off season gossip kind of. I was in Sister Bay, maybe Ephraim, (Door County) a couple days ago on business. There was a boat, err yacht docked at a pier. It had to be at least a 40 footer. I went up to it after I noticed the name on the back..."HAT TRICK -- Chicago, IL". I was nosey, but nobody was home. It had 3 or 4 Motion W's flying from various windows, etc. Speculation? Chelios? Granato? Just a hockey fan? Speculation? Chuck ;)?

Have you been telling that story at parties? If not, you should be.

Coach Eaves took the Ice Bucket Challenge and the video is awesome. Like, must watch stuff.

LINK

I didn't realize he had a silly side (despite seeing him change diapers last year at that daycare) and he's in better shape than I thought he was. Definitely want to see the GoPro view as well.

That was a good one. On a related note, I did not know Kent Davyduke was an assistant coach on Parker's staff.

Parker and Davyduke were assistants to the head coach - Joel Marshall.

Davyduke has gone back to Canada and Parker was assisting last season coz his boy was on the team. Doubtful he returns.

We are Badger-less.

Does anyone know the current hockey capacity of the Alliant Energy Center Dane County Veterans Memorial Coliseum (whatever combination of those words is the proper name for the hockey venue)? I can't seem to find it, and I want it to get added to its Wikipedia page, especially now that the Madison Capitols have been added.

Around 8,000 I believe.

Kind of surprised by Navin. Seems like a quiet guy. Drake and LaBate seemed to be locks.

The season is coming up on us fast. Only a month away.

They're all pretty quiet guys from the experience I've had with them. Talked to some former players about the captains earlier this summer and they couldn't give me a good answer on who should be captain. They kind of settled on Drake when pressed for a name. I think they respect the work Drake has put in to make himself better as a guy who didn't play a lot his first few years and didn't come into the program with a lot of hype like some of the other guys. I heard a story once that Drake grades his performance on every practice. He may not be a yeller and a screamer, but I think he's got the kind of work ethic you need in a captain.

I like the schedule in that they have 4 away games to start to get things jelling a bit, then a week off to tighten up the systems, then they jump right into the fire against the sue, then a week off to tighten up again, then to Colorado. It may be hard to get some momentum going, but they'll have plenty of time to watch film and get the lads in the right spots on the ice. Then they have 9 home games in a row at home (over 3 months) to hopefully get on a nice run.

The big ? is how many of the n/c games will be on the tube?

I like that they will be fat, rested and ripe for the slaughter when the Sioux come to town.

That's Sioux.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey XXIX: Yes, this is the Rumpel Rink!

There has been a suggestion here in GB that the UW-SNC event will now indeed be open to fans. Any confirmation from down there? Price? On sale date?

I've seen people elsewhere confused with it being open to the public because they are confusing Wisconsin's Red/White scrimmage that is being hosted by SNC. I'm guessing that's the case.

If Wisconsin has changed its mind, I'm sure there will be a press release with ticket details. But I haven't heard any different from the UW side since they told me the SNC/UW scrimmage at LaBahn was closed door.

I could go in all sorts of directions here, but I had better not.....

Re: Wisconsin/St. Norbert scrimage....just talked to Wisconsin again.

"It is not open to the public."

I'm not asking them a third time.
