Re: Wisconsin Hockey XXIX: Yes, this is the Rumpel Rink!

Will the Ford brothers be on the ice together....they have been playing together for years

My guess is that it won't be a factor. From what I understand, Keegan Ford is a much more high-profile recruit than Jason is, and Jason is a forward, while Keegan is a defenseman.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey XXIX: Yes, this is the Rumpel Rink!

so...the Blues were ousted by Chicago (YEAH!) and Ryan Miller is taking heat for his performances but nowhere am I seeing anything about Brian Elliott being the go-to guy in the future. Instead the speculation is on an AHL goaltender...I just don't get what Elliott has to do for that team to get their attention and gain the #1 spot. His play the past 2-3 years has warranted it I feel...

Jake Allen is 23 years old. 34th overall pick. The GM needs to justify his pick, plus the kid has the numbers. Brian Elliott has had great numbers as well, but for whatever reason has never gained complete trust from a coach to be the go to guy. I would think neither Elliott or Miller will be wearing a Blues jersey next year. I could see Elliott ending up in Western Canada.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey XXIX: Yes, this is the Rumpel Rink!

I also find it hard to make sense out of what Elliott has to do to be a legit number 1. If you look purely at numbers (GAA, SV%, in particular), there's no question that he should be getting more love than he's getting.

Unfortunately, I think that Miller will leave, Elliott will stay and simply continue the same charade with Allen that he did with Halak.

It will be interesting, because Allen is on his last year of his entry level contract. I would think he gets 4 out of the 5 starts early next year and through out with he proves himself. The Blues want to see what they have in Allen as the go to guy at the NHL level. That would mean if Elliott stays he is once again a back up with a even less role. I think he has a better chance battling for a starter job in Calgary. Either way, Elliott will be making close to 2 million next year so I think he will be fine.

The Canadiens also bring in a little more dough... But ya the video on the ice trend is awesome and it'll be interesting to see which college team does it first.

Still looking for UW to renew the hockey experience? The Badgers have a pretty good intro in my book; but world class? Hell no. THIS is world class my friends............enjoy................

All those banners make it way to cluttered up in the rafters!!! I think they should move those to the outer ring.

To what degree? A full-blown video, or on-ice projected graphics? This past year, they put some animated stuff on the ice at the Kohl Center.

Lights out, full sheet becomes a screen video/animation. Clearly seems like some company is selling the technology because I saw Mackinnon's old team had it, too.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey XXIX: Yes, this is the Rumpel Rink!

UND, with its oil money and Las Vegas roots, is toying with porn on ice. Fully blown.
The last time I saw the equivalent of porn on ice, it did involve UND. Only needed .6 seconds. New record.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey XXIX: Yes, this is the Rumpel Rink!

I would guess North Dakota would be the first to do it, then Minnesota and Wisconsin. If you want to turn your ice surface into a video screen, you'd need a good proportion of your fans seated up high to watch the video with a good angle.

I thought it was cool, until the kid with the torch came out. Maybe there is some Montreal story behind it, but I didn't think it added anything to the frenzy of getting everyone up for the start of a hockey game.

I like the torch thing. This intro from 2011 might be a better execution of the torch thing. They might use the torch because of their motto: "To you from failing hands we throw the torch. Be yours to hold it high." The Badgers use that quote too.

The vibe/aura surrounding the Canadiens is unlike anything else in the NHL.

The Canadians thing is cool, but what if you are sitting down low? Not much of a view.

There isn't anything proprietary about the technology to make this happen. But it is very expensive and specialized equipment that is required to make it happen properly.

It looks on par to what Roger Waters was using for his recent production of The Wall.

The Canadiens intro is stellar.

Can't imagine it can fit in the budget at UW.

C'mon man. We all know there's that 1/2 billion bucks lying around. Use it. or lose it. ;)
