Re: Wisconsin Hockey Vol. XXXII: No Where To Go But Up!

I think the drive for five ends tonight. Sad that it will end one game short.

Not sad, will be this season ending. Sad will strike again when no major changes happen.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey Vol. XXXII: No Where To Go But Up!

Any word of Huhges and Besse? Any thoughts on when UW wins today that Petersen plays tomorrow and Rumpel in the title game?

Let's go RED!

Re: Wisconsin Hockey Vol. XXXII: No Where To Go But Up!

Anybody here think it is problematic that if Eaves is kept and they let go either of the assistants as "sacrificial lambs" that it might be very challenging to find quality replacements? You'd have a head coach whose job security is flimsy and if he has another bad season, he'd likely get canned... meaning a new assistant would likely just end up looking for a new job a year from now. That'd be a tough proposition to step into. The job security would be tied to Eaves and that's not the safest spot to be in right now.

Yes, I agree with you. As disappointing as it is, I expect this or no change is what will happen. There needs to be a clean sweep.

You could look at it a different way, a top assistant comes on hoping to be the replacement for when Eaves gets canned.

Thank you for reminding us how crappy of a situation we are in when/if Eaves stays. We need to hit the restart button with the program for this very reason.

There's no question. All you have to do is look at the applicants when the assistant jobs have come open since Oz and Patrick have left. Not exactly the cream of the crop lining up to take those jobs. Which is sad, really. But at the end of the day Eaves has a reputation and it's fair to wonder if qualified candidates really want to work for him.

But who would be willing to be an assistant with no guarantee of that happening? Or who would be qualified to be the next head coach but willing to sit back in an assistant role for a "maybe" that he'd be hired on as the next coach? Seems to me they would want to go through a thorough hiring process for the next coach as opposed to just handing it to somebody already there.

Sorry man. I'm just trying to kill time at the hospital by making conversation on here. No harm intended. :)

No worries, you were just saying what we're all thinking. Hopefully they find a cure for being a Gopher fan for you at the hospital :D

well...let's hope that Wisconsin's first sweep of the season comes after the B10 tournament. 3 coaches, out you go.

maybe that's why Butters was hired a few years back? not enough good or great candidates applying?

Re: Wisconsin Hockey Vol. XXXII: No Where To Go But Up!

Hey friends...figured I should post in here once this season, before it's over...

I'm 32, I'm pretty sure this is the first season since I was 4 or 5 that I didn't go to a game. And I'm 100% sure this is the first winter I've ever been more interested in Badger BB than hockey.

Needless to say, me and all my family/friends want Eaves gone. I was a huge supporter until a couple years ago...now he just needs to man up, take a negotiated buyout, and move on.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey Vol. XXXII: No Where To Go But Up!

1st power play for the Badgers was pretty sad. Never even looked like they wanted to take a shot. They missed every shot that they didn't take.
