Wisconsin Hockey Vol. XXVIII: This could be a banner year, but how would we know?

Re: Wisconsin Hockey Vol. XXVIII: This could be a banner year, but how would we know?

I posted this in the Wisconsin women's hockey thread, but I know most of you don't go there often, so I thought I'd mention it here, too.

This upcoming Saturday night is the Fill the Bowl game for the Badger women. Because I have season tickets for women's hockey, I have a ticket for a reserved seat in the lower bowl. (The 100 level is reserved seating, and currently sold out, while the 200 and 300 levels are general admission.) However, I'll be getting in with my student ID so I can be in the student section. I still have to pick it up from the ticket office, which I intend on doing early in this week, so I'll find out what seat this ticket is for. If any of you want a single ticket for free, I've got one. If I can't find anyone to take it off my heands, I'll tape it to the Kohl Center before getting in line.

Edit: I know another guy who has an "old person" ticket he won't be using.

Conspiracy! Double counting! The bowl won't actually be full!

Just give us the three points we need to clinch and I won't tell the media.

Please enlighten us clown as to how Rau was "begging" for a hit.

Skating into the zone in traffic with an All-American level D-man twice your size lining you up is a terrible time to put your head down. I'm surprised you wouldn't know that with all the 'big time' hockey you've played. Or is that how you got your clock cleaned in the ECHL?

I make no serious posts and I don't take much on here seriously, but check your rep Harley. That I am serious about.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey Vol. XXVIII: This could be a banner year, but how would we know?

I see. So your Christian family likes brutal hits with intent to injure while you all gather with your Bibles, form a circle and sing "kumbayah"? Your boy Soleway telegraphed Jake Bischoff with an extremely dirty hit and got away with it. Soleway should be horsewhipped...twice.

In our post game prayer circle, we didn't sing Kumbayah, we watched the McCabe and Soleway hits over and over and over and over and over while chanting sieve til we passed out from lack of air.....

Those hits were awesome, but a hit that was just as good was when in Rodentapolis when UW played the rodents earlier this year, these 2 rodent turds just crushed eachother in their D zone while cranking up for the breakout. Interference should have been called on one of them, rules are rules you know.

Anybody hear any update on Barnes? I've been too busy to go snooping around for info.

Be interesting when we eventually do get him back to see how the lines go back together.

Baggot said he skated in a no contact jersey today but Eaves is hopeful for him to play this weekend. I was hoping to hear Eaves press conference today, but apparently it never happened as far as I can tell.

Edit: I was told he had some travel issues and couldn't get to the press conference on time. With the off-day Saturday you'd have to assume he went on a recruiting trip. There was a big showcase in Michigan, that wouldn't be too surprising.

Thanks Chuck, I've been busy trying to buy some more Florida swampland. (Florida's ALL swampland, btw)

I wonder if that's another of Eaves' "In my mind, he's playing" type of deals, (It's what he said on MI Friday about Kerdiles playing Sat) or if Barnes is really going to be ready. I cringe every time I think of how hard he went into the wall... Be awesome to get him back and get some playing time together going down the stretch. Plus we need the wins.

Given the effectiveness of Kerdiles-Zengerle, I wonder if Eaves will keep them together?

Alex: Ok, Harley it's your turn.
Harley: Thanks Alex, I'll take "Known Christian Hypocrites" for $500.

Yeah, because the Bible does strictly forbid enjoying a violent hit in the context of a game......

What's with all this talk of Soleway and McCabe telegraphing their hits? A wire between 2 telegraphs on the ice would be pretty dangerous.

For the record, I agree that McCabe's was a 5.....Soleway's was clean.

See ya in playoffs Harley and remember, God loves you too. :)

It might be time to stop tapping at the window, so the rodent troll goes back into his hole.

Good ol' God. Still doing miraculous stuff after all these years. --> Loves Gophers.

I am not particularly religious at all Tim, but in all seriousness, even I gotta admit, that's a pretty mind-expanding concept.

per markwojo, Back to hockey:

Biggest issue this week?

How about our more recent disparity in penalty minutes with opponents. OSU can play pretty well all over the ice, but in some ways, they're a bit of a one trick pony. The trick being a 30% power play. Going to make it difficult if we give up 5-6 pp's and get only 1. Need to be a more disciplined in taking bad penalties.

Clean or not, making light of a hit that gave a 19 year old a concussion is a shame.

For what it's worth, it was charging at the very least. It wasn't a race for the puck, he had Bischoff lined up the enter way into the corner. It was reckless and the result was what I expected when I saw him closing in for the hit- a concussion

Re: Wisconsin Hockey Vol. XXVIII: This could be a banner year, but how would we know?

Haven't heard anything on McCabe and a possible suspension. Shouldn't we have heard by now if there was going to be one?

I don't know for sure but it seems that most decisions in the past have come down on a Wednesday or Thursday. May have to wait a day or two to find out if he's in the clear. May very well happen, but I'd personally be a little surprised, if it did.
