WISCONSIN Hockey Vol. XXIV - Craziest Season Of All Time

Re: WISCONSIN Hockey Vol. XXIV - Craziest Season Of All Time

No one from the team has really said anything on the situation, but it seems as if they've decided to redshirt him. He's been skating for almost three weeks now, and I saw him skate at practice in Chicago and thought he looked ok.

I believe he should still be eligible for a redshirt since he's played in less than 30 percent of the games, and none since the half-way point of the season.

He could apply for a medical hardship, but I'm not really sure he would get it. Medical hardships are usually reserved for major surgeries and concussions. Unless the NCAA has become more lenient in the last few years, I don't think his injury fits in that category.

It's a season ending injury, that's irrelevant. I've been doing some reading about it, the injury doesn't even have to come playing sports.

Regardless, I'm doing some poking around to see if I can get someone to give out some info but I'm not hopeful.

Re: WISCONSIN Hockey Vol. XXIV - Craziest Season Of All Time

Every single great chant that ever existed in college sports, ever, started in the Dane County Coliseum. Just another Badger Fact! :)

Here's a great example of a chant in a similar format, courtesy of the Utah State basketball fans.

It would take quite an effort to get it going, because you'd need a lot of people who know it in advance. Doesn't help that the student section will be A) way smaller than normal and B) re-arranged so I won't know who is where...I'm afraid one of our greatest crease creatures will be in an "old person" section, as he's not actually a student anymore.

Come on man. I mean they let you in to the front of the UW for a reason. Oh sure, you probably had good grades and high test scores and all that, but that's not why your there. Your there because... Well, in point of fact, your very destiny lies in leading the Crease Creatures to greatness. Excuses are for gophers. You are now, and always will be a Badger! And Badgers have in the past, do now, always will, go to ridiculous lengths for ten seconds of amusement. Just sayin'. :D

Re: WISCONSIN Hockey Vol. XXIV - Craziest Season Of All Time

haha, I'm a Michigan Tech fan, I won't be starting it in Madison, was just thinking about interjecting this cheer into the Misfit's repertuar. Like I said, I remember doing this a lot during high school basketball games.

Oh, I know. You're Shirtless Guy. With your paradox of a jersey. I just felt like posting it as a bigger, grander example, better than what you'd see at a high school sporting event.

paradox...ok then, you sound like the st cloud fans before their team lost on saturday...no one asked my why it said that after the game.

"Take your shirt off! [clap, clap, clapclapclap]"

Do your best to distract the CC players this weekend...there's a cliff I want them to fall off.

Put it this way, Craig Anderson had a freak neck injury in 98' that almost left him paralyzed. He had surgery to realign his vertebrae that put him in a halo for a couple months. The NCAA denied his request for a medical hardship even though he only played in 7-8 games. Again, NCAA might be more lenient nowadays, but I doubt it. They seem to treat football and hockey/basketball quite differently.

Sidenote: It's hard to imagine how good that 99'-00' team would be with Anderson playing and Tanabe not going pro.

The problem with the chant is security vehemently disagrees with the crease creatures and I still only do it after a victory ;)

Re: WISCONSIN Hockey Vol. XXIV - Craziest Season Of All Time

Sources are saying Lee is out for this weekend - bummer. I don't think UW has played a single game this year with their full complement of F's have they?

So has Rumpel claimed the top spot in goal? I don't think there's much if any gap between the 2.

Re: WISCONSIN Hockey Vol. XXIV - Craziest Season Of All Time

I'm all in on the Badgers this weekend. Get out the brooms. Yesterday would have marked Badger Bob's 82nd birthday, the same week the team returns to the 'House That Bob Built' in desperate need of victories. Consider these important facts as the old WCHA regular season winds to a close.

--The Huskies are proud owners of a 7-16 (.304) all time record at The Coliseum.

--It took the Badgers thirteen years to win their first WCHA Championship. Another thirteen to win their second. Their last win? Thirteen yeas ago, in 2000.

--In every year the Badgers have won an outdoor hockey game at a football stadium, they have gone on to skate in the National Championship game.

Lastly, and IMHO most importantly, when Wisko McBadgerton posts at USCHO, WI is stellar. Here are some stats:

--Wisko posts starting Nov. '09. WI is 6-4-2 (.583). With Wisko, Badgers go 22-6-2 (.766) leading to NC game.

--Wisko does not post after April '10. Badgers go 39-39-8 (.500) without Wisko.

--Wisko posts again beginning late Nov. '12. WI is 1-7-2 (.200). With Wisko, Badgers go 15-4-5 (.729)

Coincidence? Impossible. As long as nothing happens to me, it seems clear the Badgers are set for a miracle run!

We need to keep Wisko safe! This is of upmost importance. I have heard that the vatican currently has an extra vehicle. Wisko, what do you think about a new ride?

Re: WISCONSIN Hockey Vol. XXIV - Craziest Season Of All Time

I was at game 1 as well. There was a huge snowstorm that night as I recall. (It sucked walking back to the car after that ugly game. Even though they won.)

Bruckler let one go in from the lenth of the ice on a shot. That's why he sat down. Badgers fought like crazy to score goals in game 2 and 3 of that series. No one was there on that Sunday night. We had the place to ourselves. The next season they won it all!

Yesterday, Eaves said it was 'doubtful' that Lee will be in the lineup.

IIRC there was a pretty big fight in game 2. I believe Earl got kicked out. That was a pretty memorable series.

There is no way to argue with that logic. You sir are a scholar and a gentleman. I thank you for all you do for badger hockey. I have a "lucky" jersey I retired after the '06 season. This might be the season to bust it out, but I am a coward :(

I appreciate it but considering the dire consequences I have spared no expense and hired an elite security team. They've been working day and night and the defensive bunker is nearly complete:

Tim- I personally would be surprised not to see Rumps between the pipes. I'm pretty comfortable with either guy, but I think Rumps has shown enough to get the nod the rest of the way.

C'mon WW! Get it out and get down to the Coli. It's cliche', but true, that great opportunities are born of great adversity. There's no miracle in a great team going 33-5, but a team that sucks and yet somehow manages to get it turned around late? That's the stuff dreams are made of. Buck up and get on the bandwagon early, I say! Don't want to miss this kind of play:

Well that video got me pumped up! If it did not seriously jeopardize the $45,000+ I pay in tuition each year, I would "forget" my responsibilities and be there for both games. I know, excuses.

There was a six year span where I did not miss a single Badger hockey game in the state of Wisconsin. Unfortunately, those days are over and I must rely on other fans to hold my place.

Hey, a little propofol in the water and nobody even knows you're gone! And even if they do, I understand there's a lot of great Med schools south of the border. For 45k you could've been a brain surgeon three years ago.

Bah... It's ok. Everyone knows by the time you hit your second year of grad school your value as a Crease Creature has already declined significantly. Just give the ol' lucky jersey a little fondle on the way out the door this weekend. ;)
