WISCONSIN Hockey Vol. XXIV - Craziest Season Of All Time

Re: WISCONSIN Hockey Vol. XXIV - Craziest Season Of All Time

Same. Wasn't expecting it, but I'm about the least surprised person in the world right now.

We needed our offense to pick us up (if you can call needing 3 goals in regulation "picking us up") and that facet just can't be counted on.

We have to walk an incredibly fine line due to our offensive ineptness and today, we fell off it.

In fairness you are ready to hang anyone associated with the program. ;)

Not everyone. Just the head coach, assistant coaches, athletic director, associate athletic director in charge of hockey and anyone elae who is in a decision making position and is willing to keep Eaves around.

Re: WISCONSIN Hockey Vol. XXIV - Craziest Season Of All Time

I look at it as you were up 2-0, and then it all fell apart. And you're a trap team. THAT'S what surprised me.

Re: WISCONSIN Hockey Vol. XXIV - Craziest Season Of All Time

That was devastating.

I did get 8 foam fingers, but it doesn't make up for what I just saw.

Re: WISCONSIN Hockey Vol. XXIV - Craziest Season Of All Time

Just got back from rehearsal to see this score. banging on the drums is much more fun than watching Badger hockey the past 6-8 years.

look Mike Eaves needs to hit the highway or be shown the door. Pure and simple. 5 out of 7 years out of the NCAA's (let's face it 07-08 was a joke, they should not have gotten in that year so it really should be 6 out of 7 years)...there's no other sport on campus where this could be deemed average let alone successful.

I'd like to hear an incisive and intelligent defense to keep Mike Eaves as coach. Somehow I don't think we'll get one.

While I'm talking about firing Eaves...take a look at the UW history and the results. How long has it been since this team was feared on an annual basis? About 18 years fellas.

they need a complete turnover right now. All the coaches must go (sorry Besse, sorry Kerdiles but facts are facts and Mike Eaves is NOT cutting it)

Wisconsin Hockey: I've had it past the top of my head with this mediocrity.

this is just pathetic.

don't know if it helps any or not but Barry was in the crowd last nite.....Mike Eaves time as UW coach has expired...from the northern Michigan series through tonight it is quite evident he has lost any kind of apptitude of what that it takes just to be an average ncaa hockey coach.....hell we got a so called college hockey team who can't score...these guys have been scoring goals since the age of 5....as long as the BT is taking college hockey down we might as well go down with a new coach and a new system....bring in alot of those 3-4 years college hockey players....throw a top nhl draft pick here and there and start getting this program back to where at least they are fun to watch

I'm glad Barry was there, for whatever that might mean.

Losing to PSU is only one game of course, but it's nonetheless telling... the real yardstick this season was the 4 games vs Minnesota, those games (imo) showed just how wide the gulf is between a great team and a mediocre team. the scores may have been close but the play certainly was very much tilted to the gophs in each game. it reminded me very much of the Bonin/Rasmussen teams vs. the 96 UW team with no firepower

Re: WISCONSIN Hockey Vol. XXIV - Craziest Season Of All Time

No doubt Barry was there because of the B16 matchup. That and his Mondays in late February are pretty free.
This series is an apt microcosm of the season. Some flashes of what might have been, and more of what is. A team that thus far has just not been able to put it all together with any sort of consistency. What do you say about a team capable of beating the #2 and #3 teams in the country and then losing at home to first year program Penn State? I put it to psychology. To me, we have capable players, but psychologically this team has just not been able to figure out who they are.
I'll be pulling hard for Bucky to win these next four, but given our home record, and with due respect to students and ticket holders, our 6-2-4 road record seems to indicate we'd be better off going on the road for the conference tournament. In any case, Now would be a good time for this team to figure it out and actually overcome adversity, rather than generate more.

Wisko, I just noticed your sig, Greg Poss as in former Badger from around 1986?

I recall wearing a UW Hockey jersey to a Brewers game sometime in the late 90's and this guy comes up to me between innings "hey, nice jersey I used to play for them."
it was Greg

Ahh... yes indeed... that Greg Poss: http://floridaeverblades.com/team/florida-everblades-staff/greg-poss/

Following the 2010 NC game, I felt the team was in good enough shape to continue on without my tremendous goalie taunting and insightful posting here, so Mrs. McBadgerton, the little McBadgerton, and I moved from 30 minutes to the Kohl, to 30 hours to the Kohl. (SW Florida, sadly, for work reasons rather than retirement, which is what most people are here for.) It is going to be 81 degrees here today and yet there is plenty of available ice in the area.

But just look what you all have gone and done in my absence!

The Everblades are fun to watch despite the stands being generally filled with Hockey Least fans. But it's certainly no Wisconsin Experience. And the Little McBadgerton (A skater of the figure kind, :sigh: but a big hockey fan, nonetheless.) was quite upset when she witnessed her first real bench-clearing brawl in the pros. She couldn't understand why nobody was stopping the boys from punching each other silly. She's over it now though and we enjoy the games.

Poss is developing a very good resume. Who knows? Maybe one day he'll return to Bucky's bench and restore the glory of bygone days. :)

Re: WISCONSIN Hockey Vol. XXIV - Craziest Season Of All Time

Is it wrong to not be disappointed if the Badgers struggle down the stretch and can't secure home ice? At this point, I would not mind getting the last 2 sets of tickets refunded as unused as opposed to watching more craptacular hockey in the Kohl. I hate to say this, but struggling to the finishline may accelerate a now painfully obvious need for a changing of the guard.

I am at the point in life where I will have to strongly debate the need to continue with my season tickets going forward. Between my son playing travel hockey and that limiting our ability to get to all games and the errotion of the product...I am conflicted. My son's hockey left me unable to use 3 games worth of tickets which I was able to sell. I was unable to attend last nights debacle and had no luck getting rid of the tickets and ended up eating them. My fear going forward is that eating tickets for games I can not attend will become more commonplace as the franchise of Wisconsin hockey continues to erode. The atmosphere of Badger hockey games has also significantly diminished. 2 or 3 of the games I did make it to were attrociously attended and left a dull lifeless atmosphere. It's one thing if the upper tank is a bit empty in the ends and corners, it's another when there are large chunks of empty seats in the lower two bowls. It may be time to give up the season tickets and just buy single game tickets for games I can/want to attend....it sure don't look like it will be a tough ticket going forward. If the team (regardless of who is coaching) can limit attrition this Summer and guys expected back return, I suspect we'll be pretty good this fall. However, after next season we will again get into the down cycle where we turn over a huge chunk of the roster and are way to young to be an upper echelon team.

Fire Eaves. I am with Almington. I have had enough of this sterile, boring, robot-like mediocrity.

Enough is enough. The guy is not getting it done.

I have already had the season ticket conversation with myself. I decided to keep my friday tix because I really like the location and I can just go downtown after work, but if my friend who I share saturday tix w/ says he doesn't want to renew, I'm not going to make a big deal out of it. I'll buy minnesota tickets right away, and then decide if I want to attend any other saturday games.

I use to plan my entire winter around Badger Hockey weekends, and over the past 3 years I've found it impossible to do that anymore, and I don't even have kids or anything like that. The product on the ice isn't making it any harder on me either, as I don't feel like I'm going to miss anything by not being there. I know I've become a less than stellar fan, but I'm ok with that.

He didn't seriously say that, did he?

Re: WISCONSIN Hockey Vol. XXIV - Craziest Season Of All Time

I'm also debating the ticket renewal question as I have 4 for Friday. My oldest son is off the HS next year. I'm thinking his days of spending Friday nights with us at the Badger hockey game are mostly over. He already misses a few series a year because ski club takes their trips on Fridays.

We also miss games due to travel hockey and Badger hockey tix are not always (ever?) easy to get rid of.

We ate Sunday's tix and I didn't even try to sell them. Let's see, Sunday game against PSU in a half empty building or the recliner, Blackhawks game, Badgers on TV & the Walking Dead. Didn't think twice about it.

Again, as I said before, this is NOT must-see. The hockey is boring and very frustrating and the half-empty building makes my recliner and flat screen all the more appealing.

I'll be keeping my Saturday tix (2) as I have a buyer for those if I don't want them and they're great seats.
