I did some "what if" calculator today and to get home ice the Badgers either need to go 3-1 or 2-2 and hope minnesota sweeps DU at home this weekend. DU ends w/ UAA at home, penciling them in for 4 pts there. If UNO continues to fold (they lost to USA U-18 team this weekend) UW could catch/pass them too. I would love to see some hockey at the Kohl Center after the SCSU series. I think home ice is the road to an at large bid.

Also, I doubt Joel Rumpel will get 1st team WCHA, but I think he deserves it. Stud.

It's fine on TV, but every time I watch the historical montage I get the shivers. Also love the Enter Sandman intro, can't get enough of it. Thanks again.

I was shocked to see Rumps get the start after playing 2 in a row vs the rodents. I'm thinking Petersen is in net today, then Rumps gets Friday of UNO.

It seemed like Mersch, for example, was so used to scoring his goals as a part of a play with his teammates (when both teams are in the zone), that when he had a one-on-one chance against Musico, he wasn't sure what to do. "Should I deke? Should I shoot? Is he playing too far out to shoot? I'll just wrist it...awww I want that one back."

My observation:

Badgers = Looked Terrific.... Penn State = Terrible.

It's hard to say how badly PS played vs. how good the Badgers played, but it was fun to see so much offensive pressure from Bucky.

All in all, there appeared to be a wide disparity in skating ability outside of a few PS players, and we did what we should always do to teams that aren't very good. Penn St. looked last night like AA would kill them. (Although Musico is pretty good.) Obviously they've played better games at times this year and I'd expect a little more from them tonight for their last game of the year.

Bucky just needs to take advantage tonight, put the game away and get ready for a much different level of skating next week.

Typing this late in the 3rd with a 2-2 tie....so gross. PSU really wants to win this...we need it. You would think a NEED would beat out a WANT. Looks like we are heading for OT....gotta wonder how "go for broke" Bucky will go in the extra 5:00. Can't even afford a tie at this point.....

Ugh....shouldn't have to come down to this!

If you're going to be a defense-minded team, be a defense-minded team. Three brutal goals allowed in the third and OT. Can't lose games like this...

#30 is the reason we lost that game.
Defense is pathetic on getting puck out of the d-zone, officiating.....dont even want to talk about it, and we can't hit the net...shocking.

Perfect example of why we need to get rid of Eaves. So many shots on net but so few of them any good. Get used to this. Next year we battle to stay out of last in the Big Ten.

The Badgers were playing cocky the whole weekend. They thought they could cake walk through the game tonight and it bit them in the arse. The loss is inexcusable. I really want Tyler Barnes to get his eyes checked. I've never seen a guy miss-time so many shots of the pass.

We lost this game because we had 50-ish shots on net and only converted 2. The chances were there. As is our deal, we couldn't finish because we're just not good at it.

Giving up 2 in regulation, even 2 somewhat-softies, should have been good enough against a team that was playing club hockey last season.

Could have have 15-20 more shots too if we would just shoot the ****ing puck instead of trying for that extra pass.


Seriously though, who's surprised by this result?

If you read more of my post i stated that. Peterson let in 3 goals that never should go in. He isn't going to be playing another minute this season. It's thw whole teams fault.

Wisconsin Badger hockey has hit an all time low...nobody can try and defend this any more....absolutely horrible

New team to D1, versus a team that basically shuts down scoring. Also had an advantage of having Almington over last Friday, discussing WI a bit. It's still a first year D1 team against a veteran to D1. I wasn't expecting a rout like last night, don't get me wrong. But I didn't expect this.

I wasn't expecting it, but I'm not surprised by this. Disappointed? Absolutely. Shocked? No way.
