Re: Wisconsin Hockey: Vol. XX - Growth Through Experience

Thanks for clarifying this for us. I didn't realize we were required to like football if we liked hockey. I don't really enjoy the sport at all, but I guess if I want to watch hockey..... are there any other rules we should know?

Well, you obviously can't like baseball since the BADgers killed their baseball program. So, I guess you have to change allegiences jen. C'mon over and be a Gopher fan, you know you want to! We have cookies! ;)

Re: Wisconsin Hockey: Vol. XX - Growth Through Experience

Pretty cool man. I bumped into Mike Ramsey several years back at a restaurant, and Bill Baker when I was a kid at a movie theatre. Both great guys and I was just speechless. Ok, enough of this. I'll stop before I completely ruin your thread ;)

nice!

I met Chelios at his restaurant and he was very cool. G. Suter on the other-hand was quite standoffish, quartering himself off from all the fans at cheli's chili. Win some lose some I guess.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey: Vol. XX - Growth Through Experience

This tread is anything but Wiscosnin Hockey Growth Through Experience.

Quit your *****in and offer something intelligent about our hockey program or just shut up. Agree with Chuck on the ax thing. .

Re: Wisconsin Hockey: Vol. XX - Growth Through Experience

Wow. Meeting Chelios would be cool!

it was after a Blackhawks vs. Avalanche playoff game. he signed my Wisconsin jersey and chatted for a minute and he obliged my friend who was wearing an Avs Jersey (now beer stained from all the 3rd tier hawks fans who were ****ed off about it) and signed that!

Very cool! Those will be worth something :)

I agree about the *****in part, lets talk Badger Hockey, not what arbitrarily qualifies you as a Badger fan. I largely agree w/ EoDS though, but would rather save my energy hating gopher fans and wonder if anyone at CC even knows they have a hockey team. What a solid fan base they have...

I think the team is slowly coming around, and while I'm not sure this season will end up as a "success" in terms of post season play, the road is sure getting paved for the next few seasons. I'm actually surprised how many goals the team has scored this season, I thought that was going to be their biggest weakness. They have lost 3 games in OT, gave one away on friday night against UNO and really only looked horrible all game last friday at SCSU and in the 3rd against the gophers on saturday. They could easily be above .500 right now.

I'm encouraged by Rumpel, he has been solid, and he has A LOT of room for improvement. I have to agreed w/ comments on Woods and Paape from earlier in the thread. I've thought Paape has looked good from the start, and I wasn't expecting him to play much. Same w/ Woods, but he looks solid out there, a ton of potential. This freshman class doesn't have a bunch of huge names, but this class is loaded with talent. And Derek Lee isn't even out there due to injury, and he finally looked like the Derek Lee who was so good in the BCHL.

While I don't have high hopes for the post season, this team is very young, this team could come together by early 2012 and start rolling people. Add Kerdlies and Zulinick into the mix next season (and thankfully subtract Eric Springer) and the future is sure bright.

Friday re-energized my lagging Badger excitement. It happened at the exact moment Little, Ryan destroyed the great stay at home defenseman Seth Helgeson. That hit was a summary of the Badger's effort on friday.

Depends on who steps up to fill Schultz's role on the team. I hope that where we start to see some real evidence of someone stepping up as the heir apparent.

Who was the 9 or 10 year old girl who sang the Anthem Saturday night? That was awesome! It got me cranked up before the game let me down..........

Good point. At the end of last season, I would have said Simonelli, but he hasn't played as well so far, though his role has increased. The blue line could be taking a small step back next season, but the forward group will be stacked w/ talent. 3 lines of guys who should be able to fill the net.

No doubt that was AWESOME!

I wonder if they have changed policy or something, because the band didn't do the Anthem on friday night either. Personally, I LOVE to hear it sung, and as far as I'm concerned give that 9 yr old the chance every saturday.

That 9 year old girl is the daughter of Aaron Stecker, the former Badger, and NFL running back. Probably just Barry parading football in front of the hockey crowd again. :D I kid, I kid.

Interesting yet pointless fact, the girl was in a class taught by my sister-in-law.

I don't know why you guys are dissing me so much I was just kidding about being a a true Badger fan.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey: Vol. XX - Growth Through Experience

Baggot says Eaves has Hartzog playing defense this week. I did not see that one coming.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey: Vol. XX - Growth Through Experience

Not sure if this story was previously posted, but here is an excellent article on Ramage:

On another note, I'll be at both CC/Badger games this weekend...should be fun! Looking forward to seeing some other Badger fans at the World Arena.

I can't speak for anyone else but I read the article when it came out and thought they writer did a good job. However, I chose not to promote it because I don't think it's fair to John. If that was me in that situation I would understand why the article is written, but I wouldn't want that promoted.

Agree.

If he plays a minute of D in a hockey game this year UW is in big trouble. I don't know if this is just a depth thing or if the 3rd pair of d are that bad. If they are struggling, I'd like still like to see Faust, Drake and Daly play just to get experience that will pay dividends the next 3 years.

Like it or not, this year is a seasoning year that will pay huge dividends in the next 2 years. Add 3 studs next year and lose basically no one this year means a top 4 contending team next year. Paape and Woods have been very pleasant surprises this year, Zengerle and Barnes have exceeded expectations so far in terms of offensive creativity, the future looks really bright.
