Re: Wisconsin Hockey: Vol. XX - Growth Through Experience

all I can say is the rats are going to be #1 coming in to Madison now and will be deserving of that rating. UW is going to have to man-up and play their best games to-date to keep from getting blown out both nights.

Nah, they will probably be #2 or #3 though. As well as the gophers have been playing I will hope for a split this weekend. A sweep by either team would be a real nice bonus, like the one Clark W. Griswald got fromthe fine film Christmas Vacation.;)

Hopefully having the games in Madison will help, UW is a much better team in the KC and going that MN can have some issues of a young team playing in a hostel environment (provided the fans show up).

Re: Wisconsin Hockey: Vol. XX - Growth Through Experience

Briefly: UND showed that even a "down" rival can have a good showing. I expect at least a split this weekend, and am just hoping for a sweep. Nothing would really surprise me, though.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey: Vol. XX - Growth Through Experience

Quick question, do you guys have a defined first line? Or is Eaves still shuffling?

Re: Wisconsin Hockey: Vol. XX - Growth Through Experience

LaBate-Zengerle-Barnes.

Zengerle is a stud, love the spin around pass to set up a goal he made against UNO....The other two MN HS Gopher rejects would be on the Gophers 4th line though had they come here. :D

I'll be there saturday and I can't wait!

I don't know after watching SCSU skate over around and through UW friday night, wow. If that same UW team shows up against MN on either night it won't be 7-2 it will be 14-2 and I'll be sick for about a year:(

Given the inexperience on this UW team, I expect to see significant splits between home and road games.

You're probably right. but the blow-out came as unexpected to me as they'd been in every game prior and I didn't think SCSU was a better team coming in than UND, UNO or NMU

I wouldn't ever expect a blow-out, the teams in the WCHA are competitive enough that it should be a rarity but it will happen. I didn't see the game on Friday, but it sounded like it was just a perfect storm of mistakes and errors on UWs end coupled with SCSU having quality execution.

Need to measure this season by improvement as opposed to pure win-loss record. I hopefully we have reached the nadar of the season and that they will play much better at home this weekend against what appears to be a very good MN team.

I watched the game and it looked like UW was totally out of sync on that big sheet of ice. They just had no flow. It improved in the 3rd period, but they didn't shut St. Cl. down to mount a comeback. Also, St. Cloud outmuscled UW players defending the UW net in tight. Petersen looked like he was fighting the puck at times too.

Goaltending...I've vote for continuing the rotation 1 more week. Rumpel has a better record, but I think Petersen has a tougher draw playing Friday night with the inexperienced players getting used to a new opponent and situation every week.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey: Vol. XX - Growth Through Experience

I posted this on the MINN and UW weekly thread but it's pretty crowded over there so I thought I'd post it here to.
My weeks prediction:

Friday: MINN 4 UW 2
Saturday: MINN 2 UW 3
