Wisconsin Hockey: Vol. XX - Growth Through Experience

But that isn't to say that US tax code is clear or easy to understand. Their are income exemptions that can also apply, I am far from an expert on US tax law and foreign income reporting.

Yeah, neither am I. I do know that his team had an accountant that helped him with everything. I am sure most players would be lost if they had to do it themselves.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey: Vol. XX - Growth Through Experience

I don't think what he makes overseas is tax free, but he will still be making more.

Admittedly I'm far from an expert on the subject but in talking with some different agents they have all said it's tax free. I don't know the details on how or why.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey: Vol. XX - Growth Through Experience

wow. Osieki really has tOSU playing well. 8-2-1 in conference 11-3-1 overall I believe?

sweep NMU, Michigan and now LSSU consecutively.

kudos to Coach O

Re: Wisconsin Hockey: Vol. XX - Growth Through Experience

Yes...I don't know the exact figures for his deal but he can basically make like 60k with Hamilton with a low chance at a shot at the NHL. Or he can play overseas and get six digits tax free.

I work and live in Sweden and trust me he is not getting paid tax free in Sweden. The tax rate isn't as bad as people make it out, but no one is getting paid tax free in Sweden....I am almost 100% sure of that. You also have to claim your oversea's earnings in your US taxes.

He probably came back due to money and Stockholm being one of best cities in the world to live in.

I am almost positive they are.

Wisconsin hosts another #1 team this week. Minnesota-Duluth comes to town as your newly crowned #1.

I also find it hard to believe that a foreign hockey player wouldn't need to pay the local taxes, but it could be possible depending on the local laws (for example, I didn't have to pay Japanese income tax for the job I had when I was living there). U.S. taxes can of course be avoided on foreign income (with certain restrictions on how large the income is and whether it has any connections to business in the U.S.) by being outside the U.S. for I believe 300 days of the year. I have to report my Hungarian income, but there is no question about paying U.S. taxes on it, since I only am in the States for a few weeks a year.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey: Vol. XX - Growth Through Experience

I gotta buy you a beer before a game sometime man. I bet you have some awesome stories :)
I'd like to get some "game veterans" together. From the old Williams Arena, (one time of many trips)I remember having a Boy Scout show me to my seat, only to have a ****ing Coke thrown at me before the game even started.

I think there were ropes between some seats and ketchup and mustard colored sections. I asked a goof fan why there's a rope between us. He said, "You paid 2 bucks more for your seats *** hole". I could never win up there.

LOL! Great stories! Yeah, the old Mooch (Williams Arena) was wild. I'd love to get some people together as well. Would be fun to swap stories :)

I grew up in that beautiful dump.. Would get so loud you'd leave with a pounding headache.. My fav tho was always during the intermissions when the players skating off to the locker rooms the fights breaking out due to the single gate... Eventually the players would get escorted off the ice for the bigger rivalries ie UND, UW.

No Badgers named to the WJC roster for the United States or Canada for the first time since 2002. Wisconsin will be full strength for that huge () match up against RIT just after the holidays.

Ok, NO EXCUSES! Football is on a short hiatus; now it's time to direct your money to the Kohl Center for Badger Hockey, eh?

That link is a real kick in the nuts Rich.

"We return Hobey Baker finalist and All-American Justin Schultz, as well as Craig Smith, who is making headlines while skating for Team USA at the world championships. Our entire roster is enthusiastic about their preparation in anticipation of a fresh start and a new NCAA championship run."

(Insert expletive here.)

I may be dramatic when I go off into anti-hockey conspiracy land, but there are times when I feel at least a little justified. Name me another revenue sport where that kind of error goes unnoticed.

Hockey communications staff runs that website. The "letter from Eaves" was obviously written over the summer before Smith turned pro. Obviously the site doesn't generate enough traffic to have someone complain about it to force a correction.

jesus is Ramage cursed or is he just playing out of position? was that the 4th or 5th goal he's knocked in for the opposition?

it's just infuriating

Re: Wisconsin Hockey: Vol. XX - Growth Through Experience

great game overall from both sides tonight.

Jason Clark I thought had his best game as a badger by far and I think he's making a case to be a top 2 line guy with some of the moves he made, but more importantly his effort and his quick skating, kudos
