Re: Wisconsin Hockey Vol I: Dawn of the Fifth Age of UW Hockey!

Oh, and they also released the NC Schedule

Oct 1 - University of Victoria (home ex)
Oct 7-8 - NMU (Green Bay)
Oct 14, 16 - Boston College (home) - Fri/Sun
Oct 21 - US Under 18 (home ex)
Oct 28 - St Lawrence (away)
Oct 29 - Clarkson (away)
Nov 4-5 - NMU (home)
Nov 18-19 Merrimack (home)
Nov 25 - Colorado College (away)
Nov 26 - Denver (away)
Dec 2-3 - Nebraska Omaha (home)

So each ticket package will be
1 EX
4 NC
5 BIG

I'm pumped, drop the puck already!

Hopefully there is not a long break between the UNO series and the B6 start. Those long lay offs really kill the momentum of a season. The N/C has a real nice flow to it.

Looking at last season, there were 2 weekends of conference play before the December break (2 weeks off and an exhibition in Jan). The UNO series sits in one of those slots this year.

I wouldn't be shocked to see them fill up the last 10 weekends of the season with conference games and play straight through from the weekend of Jan 6-7 to March 10-11. They have the trip out to NYC for the Ohio State game at Madison Square Garden, so who knows how we will fill the 2nd half of that series/weekend.

My guess is that we will get 2 conference series in before the break, take 3 weeks off over the holidays, and then have hockey starting Jan 6 with a single bye week sometime in February. We will split up the OSU series with 1 game at MSG on the scheduled weekend and make a trip out to Ohio for a single game somewhere else to get in the required games.

Purely speculation...does anyone else have any thoughts?

My guess is they'll play at OSU the Thursday before the MSG game. I think that's what Penn State and Michigan did last year.

I could swear I saw Tony G on Lake & Johnson this morning...red polo & back pack and on the phone. (No I am NOT a ****ing stalker.) If it wasn't , the guy got a kick out me yelling, "YO TONY" out the window. At least he waived at me.

It probably was him. Summer classes started and he's taking classes (included in the interview below).

Re: Wisconsin Hockey Vol I: Dawn of the Fifth Age of UW Hockey!

Are there any current UW students here?

UW athletics is going to form a Crease Creatures group/board/thingy to help re-ignite and energize the fan base (objectives similar to the fan advisory board), specifically with students. (Remember that names like Granato and Osiecki won't instantly make current students sprint to buy all the tickets.) They are making students a big priority, because they don't want student attendance/interest to lag behind the expected upswing in performance and hype among the “old people.”

It would involve meeting with the coaches and really getting involved with the program, and to access and reach out to the students, seeing what should be done/changed/started (and to see what drives interest among casual potential fans on campus).

They're looking for students who have a lot of knowledge about the program and follow it very closely. (If you’re a student who’s reading this, you’re the kind of person they're really looking to get involved in year 1.)

You can DM me on twitter, PM me on reddit, or PM me here (if that's possible) if you want to know more. I don't know a whole bunch of fans younger than me, but I know there are a few out there who would be great for this. (And as I said, the people regularly reading this thread in May are the kind of people they're looking for.)

Re: Wisconsin Hockey Vol I: Dawn of the Fifth Age of UW Hockey!

Isn't it unusual to have two non-conference series against the same team (NMU in this case)?

I believe they are trying to accelerate the remainder of the 4-year scheduling agreement.

I think we'll get one more @ Green Bay series and then it will be done.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey Vol I: Dawn of the Fifth Age of UW Hockey!

It's official: Go Sharks.

If I am correct, as long as the Pens win tonight we will be guaranteed that another Badger will get to hoist the Stanley Cup. Justin Schultz playing on the Pens now.....Pavs in the Finals with the Sharks.

Yes, and as happy as I would be for Schultz, I really want to see Pavs hoist the Cup.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey Vol I: Dawn of the Fifth Age of UW Hockey!

Also: Pavs is a good hockey player.

Remember his last year in college had had like 45 goals and 87 assists? He is THE man, WI born and bred baby! He has the same amount of goals as Gretzky's best playoff performance through 3 rounds. :)

Wisconsin Hockey: Drink milk

Re: Wisconsin Hockey Vol I: Dawn of the Fifth Age of UW Hockey!

I concur.

Yep...I (and the kids) was rooting for the Blues and Elliott, but the Blues just didn't have the drive to keep up with the Sharks. I found myself switching over during the game last night...Pavs is the man. (Wish the geography was different and we could have had a Pavs Elliott final!)
