Wisconsin Hockey Vol I: Dawn of the Fifth Age of UW Hockey!

Re: Wisconsin Hockey Vol I: Dawn of the Fifth Age of UW Hockey!

Baggot just posted an article about Tony's first week on the job.

http://www.uwbadgers.com/news/2016/...anato-during-hectic-first-week-in-office.aspx

Also includes base salary information for each of the coaches (for those of you curious in such things - Tony - $400k per year, plus compensation enhancements - Don and Mark - $200k per year.)

I must say I am shocked that BA backed a football money filled armored car up to the KC and dumped that much money into the hockey coaches. TG really backed BA into a corner on the salary front. I can't imagine BA just voluntarily doled out that kind of dough, it's so over the top on the base, TG hasn't coached a single game and he's already crushing tDon, whose base is $330,000 with another $200,000 in bonuses available.

Barry knew what he had to to to resurrect the fanbase. Between the season tickets saved from cancelation and new packages added, the move appears to have paid off already.

The athletic board just gave big raises to all the football coaches. It appears they're on some kind of spending spree.

Elliott pulled in tonight's loss for the Blues.

Past precident says that he isn't playing for the Blues until next season, as that franchise seems to hunger for an excuse to bench their best goaltender.

Hitchock is an idiot. The Blues are always trying to find reasons not to play him. He needs to get traded to the Sharks and hold down the fort til Rumpel gets there.

They had to. You can't have the interim 2nd assistant to the long-snappers coach outpaid by the hockey coach.

I can see pulling him for the game, but he has earned to play game 7. I saw it quoted that Hitchcock was going to sleep on the decision. Sleep on it? What?

Re: Wisconsin Hockey Vol I: Dawn of the Fifth Age of UW Hockey!

You had to know they were gonna wake up at some point and remember that they are the Blues.

Wakey wakey Backes!

:D

If Elliot doesn't play, I hope the other guy gets shelled and Hitch gets run out of town.

Tired of looking at that pudgy doughboy 5+ times a season although I now have to look at his uglier, doughier doppleganger in Minny.

Jake allen was the guy and having a great year before he got hurt.

And Elliott was playing great in his place. It isn't like the 3 goals he gave up were Kellen Briggs impersonations or anything.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey Vol I: Dawn of the Fifth Age of UW Hockey!

Yeah, it probably escalates every year.

Base salary is $400k. Bonuses go up every year:

The annual payments are to be $100,000, $125,000, $150,000, $175,000 and $200,000.

JSOnline article.

I also thought it was interesting in Baggot's article that:

Andy Baggot said:
The salaries of all three men are being augmented annually through compensation agreements through the UW Foundation.

I assume that this is a private foundation and these numbers don't need to be part of the public record of the UW system....

The 100k, 125k, etc. payments are from UW Foundation. UW Foundation pays a big chunk to most UW coaches.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey Vol I: Dawn of the Fifth Age of UW Hockey!

Oz put out a tweet today asking all UW Hockey alums to contact him. I like where this could be going.
