Today was Granato's Birthday, could the commitments today be coordinated? It was just nuts.

Good article on Turcotte and Badger recruiting. Interesting to see Turcotte had decided he wanted to play in the Big 10...

Tanner Latsch (Meijer AAA 13U) has committed to University of Wisconsin for 2020-2021

13 years old. Is this for real?

He's not the youngest NCAA recruit...2nd youngest from what I have read.

wow...uhm, there is ample evidence that recruiting that young can and most often does come back to haunt you. no way to know whether a 13-year old will progress, plateau or regress...I'm getting worried about this trend.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey Recruiting Vol. XXXIV: Go pick me out a winner, Strand

No doubt.

I've updated the spreadsheet again. I have Latsch pencilled in as a '20-'21 (not ready to add another year to the sheet yet.)

Patrick Keegan is a D for spreadsheet purposes. Also, Turcotte should arrive in 2019. Heck of a lot to keep up with lately!

so, you are going to have tryouts, and kick the losers to the curb when the time comes?

The amount of forwards is normal. But the amount of defensemen is a little high so I'm assuming some of the players committed never see campus.

****, I put Keegan in the wrong place... just put him in the wrong place when building the sheet.

I was going by https://twitter.com/hockeycommits/status/757569414963220481 for determining where Turcotte should be. That could change based on his age though.

Changing of the guard has changed our direction on D dramatically. I remember a conversation watching a Dubuque game with someone pretty knowledge on things there and talking about Ford. He was described as a good player, but not a prototypical Wisconsin Dman by any stretch. We are trending heavily back to prototypical Wisconsin Dmen looking at our string of recent commits. I would expect several guys falling through the cracks and seeking out greener pastures when the talent level sees a significant jump over the next several seasons.

Unfortunately as someone else already said, this is the trend and becoming the norm. The flip side will be when one of these kids plateaus, you are either left with a Corbin McGuire (who was really good and committed at a young age) on your roster or someone that gets pushed out.

In Latsch's case...I would assume he is exceptionally talented in his age grouping and worth the gamble. Meijer basically sucks (or at best is mediocre) at all other age levels, but at the '02 age they manage to be a top 10 nationally team. I would assume this kid is a major reason why. I do know (my son has played against him way back when and I've seen him several times since) the kid that is a little younger and committed to Notre Dame, and he is a stud...so hopefully Latsch is in that kind of company.

Neutral Zone article indicates 2019. They mention the USNTDP watching him already for next year's u17 team, which would also indicate 2019. Just trying to help, leave it in 2020 if you think that is more accurate.

Yeah. I see that in the article. Since we have two different things saying two different years, I'll leave it for the moment. I'll correct it if changes.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey Recruiting Vol. XXXIV: Go pick me out a winner, Strand

Time will tell with what we're actually getting here.

I'll feel better when I see them in Central Scouting rankings or the USNTDP or playing well in the USHL.

Edit: I say this mostly because, as much as I've liked some of our early recruits that have come in lately, I don't know that they've fulfilled the kind of promise that one expects from a player supposedly talented enough to commit that early.

Saw a kid at the first night of Learn to Skate the other day and I swear the kid's going to be awesome. I mean nobody could touch this kid, he was literally double lapping the field skating the circle! Reminds me a lot of Karl Hagelin. (Except a lot, lot shorter.)

Thing is there's only 4 more sessions of LtS... but if Oz or Donny could get down here before the end, I think they'd have a great shot at getting him. Picked up that he's out of 'Rainbow Kidz Daycare and Learning Center' if someone can pass it along. (On the down low.)

Article on Patrick Keegan's commitment from a Massachusetts newspaper

Thanks for the linky.....I'd be surprised if BC or BU doesn't pry him away from UW ("I was all about the Beanpot"). I'm sure some of his Cushing teammates are staying in Bawstin. I'd say there is a 25% chance he actually ends up @ UW.
