Re: Wisconsin Hockey Part 2 - No Silly Eaves-isms, Just Win The Title!

I, like many fans, tend to dwell on what need to get better on the team for them to succeed. I've been looking at the player stats and I guess some of the numbers this team is putting up have really snuck up on me on the positive side of the ledger.

Stepan has 35 assists. I didn't realize he had so many.

Davies has 48 points. He could very easily eclipse the Eaves era record of Pav's 56 points. Last yeat he had 23 points. What a great improvement.

4 UW players have 40 plus points. That hasn't happened since.....? I'm guessing 89-90, maybe 91-92. UW could end up with 3 guys in the 50 point range by the end of this run. (Davies 48, Stephan 45, B Smith 44)

C Smith has 29 points as a freshman. He's gonna be 50 pointer when he skates with 1st Star next year.

I think I for one need to take a step back and really appreciate the offensive renaissance of this year, especially when you look back and see Joudrey leading the team with 29 points one year and and another year Borque led with 27. Turris only had 35 points.

What a great year. So far. Finish the job boys.

Yea no kidding Blake almost has as many goals as some of the point leaders on past teams.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey Part 2 - No Silly Eaves-isms, Just Win The Title!

In the last 13 games for Bendy he has scored 8 goals.

He scored a total of 8 goals his first three years as a Badger.

In a span of 12 seconds last game, he scored as many goals as of all of last year....2 seconds off the Badger record.

Needless to say he is on a tear!

Re: Wisconsin Hockey Part 2 - No Silly Eaves-isms, Just Win The Title!

by far?????? i wouldn't go that far... but he is the better or the two right now... i'm just glad one of them is starting to get it together.
You might not, but I would. Goody is one of the best goalies in all of college hockey, Bennett is average on a good day.

93-94 actually...Fairchild (64), Shier (62), Moore (41), and Zent (41)...but that was in 42 games.

92-93 there was...Shier (58), Plante (57), Fairchild (54), Richter (46), and Moore (46)...with Zent right on the doorstep.

How the **** did neither of those teams even make a Frozen Four? Ugh.

FYI Tim, 91-92 team only had 2 over 40 (Zent and Dougy Mac), as did the 90-91 team (Hill and Mac).

The 89-90 team is hilarious, sad, and very obviously from a different era...Shuchuk (80), Tancill (71), Byce (71), Hill (53), Mac (51), Sags (47), Oz (43), and Rohlik (40)...then there was Richter, Snedden, Granato, Kurzy...wow, what a team. :(

OK, enough of the nostalgia, back to this team. Excited for what they CAN do, just still not convinced our team D and goaltending is going to be good enough when real playoff hockey starts.

Why worry about how things might go wrong and not just sit back and enjoy the ride. The 2005-06 team could EASILY have lost Cornell in the regional final and never made it to the F4.

Anything can and does happen in the playoffs, best (in my opinion) to just enjoy the possibilities of what could be with this team.

Exactly. Anything can happen in the playoffs. All it takes is 1 bad game for ANY team (no matter how good they are) to lose and be out of the playoffs.

Who said I was worried? I will certainly sit back and enjoy the ride (unless they make it to Detroit, at which point I'll join the ride and visit that cesspool ;)). :)

Thanks for the stats. I didn't have enough time at lunch to put them together.

Wisconsin Hockey: Enjoy the ride.

That quote seems to express some concern and worry.

At this point in the season, all fans should just sit back and enjoy the ride for as far as it goes.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey Part 2 - No Silly Eaves-isms, Just Win The Title!

While watching the UM-NoDak game last evening, there was a commercial indicating the WCHA Final 5 will be televised on FCS. If you have Time Warner Cable, just add the digital sports package for $5 per month. Since you are under no contractual obligation, you can always cancel it next month if you wish.

I get that package already... doesn't mean I won't complain to FS Wis. about it or having to put up with the Sucks, ahem, Bucks, so much.

And plus... how many people really get the expanded sports package? Enough so that FSN can just shrug their shoulders at something that's on FSC versus FSN-WI?

I cannot function as a fan without worrying. :o

I am hoping for the best though. :D

The expanded sports package is a must have for any college hockey fan. Generally there's 1-3 games on Friday, usually 1 CCHA game and 1-2 WCHA games, 1-2 games on Saturday and on Sundays you can pick up a ECAC game if you want to. Plus during the weeknights there are replays as well. Last night I watched the CHA C-ship game on replay (Alabama-H is going to get killed in the ncaa's).

I get it in September, and cancel in April every year.

Is anyone else as scared as I am that Osiecki is going to go after the Ohio State job?

I think we should just flood there facebook wall anyway, i know it won't do any good but its still fun to call them out in front of all those fair weather milwaukee sports fans... re-airing brewers preseason baseball 2 or 3 times a day is going a tad overboard i'd say.....

I think the worrying comes from the frustration of the last 3 years and the teams not performing as well as they should of so the uw hockey fan base is afraid if this team doesn't make a title run this year it may be another 3-4 years before we have the team to do it again. I'm afraid that may be the case but i don't think it will be. I think next years team could be just as good as this years if a few players stick around for there senior years.
