March of '83, a friend and I stayed up at an overnight birthday party and stumbled on the replay of UW vs. The Sue in the WCHA playoffs. This may have been the first hockey game I ever watched. Game went into 3 OT's, and kept us up way past this 8 year olds bedtime! I don't know if it was the late night, or the gallon of Jolt we drank, but we hung onto every shift in OT like our lives depended on it. We had no clue what we were watching, didn't know the rules, but the electricity coming through the TV that night was never seen before. As soon as I could get $100 from mowing lawn together (20 lawns), I went downtown Appleton to the Walgreens and bought a black and white 13" TV. That allowed me to stay up late on the weekends, and watch the replays without my parents knowing. Still miss PB and Howie. I'm convinced my hatred for the FB team stems from the Saturdays when both teams were home, and PBS would play the football instead of hockey. Let's Go Red!
