Wisconsin Hockey 25-26 Hastings Year 3 - Turning the Corner?

Yeah, I hate Penn State. Their coach is a jack wagon and they are constantly cheap shotting to try and get a retaliation penalty. Time to feel the hate!

My rationale for not liking PSU...

1) They tried to hire Mark Johnson as the men's coach away from WI and make him coach against his home...all for cash.

2) I've been to a bunch of games at Pegula...their fans are extremely self entitled. Practically zero D1 history and they act like they are the best ever. The condescension from their fans is palpable.

3) The way they play...they are always the forst ones to instigate or cheap shot when thibgs dont go their way. Couple that with the style, cheating forwards up and minimal D. Just dont like that type of hockey.

Agree with all of this. It’s Gadowsky’s coaching. They’ve played like this since going D1 as I recall the very first
Time they played at the KC.

Having said that, I do envy how crazy their crowd gets. It looks and sounds close to the old Dane County Colesium crowds. At least on tv it does.

It isn't really that big of a barn, but you sit on top of the ice. The student section is pretty steep. We have the Hey Guy, they have a Hulk Hogan type character with blue hair that fires the crowd up.

The fans get rowdy, but not bc they actually have any hockey watching knowledge. I would say the majority are casual fans. Not that that is bad, its just blah bc you get the "we are PSU and better than you at face value" look from them.

The whole upper section is the club level that comes with some perks, free ice cream/pop corn and can purchase alcohol. You can also get the buffet for more cash. Those tix face are I think are $60 or 70 ea but on ticketmaster usually between $125-175 ea. The upper level is very much a wine and cheese crowd.

But, small barn with fans on top of ya can be imposing. I think they tried to style it similar to Yost.

Stupid Badgers back in uniform tonight. Stupid slash by Dyck, then stupid feigning of contact by Hauser as the puck zips into the net as he spins out of position for no reason.

He did get sticked in the nuts, but he can't retaliate. And the guy flopped like he was shot. But yeah stupid penalty. Don't get in it with these cheap shot artists.

The diver should have got an embellishment call. If Montgomery was 8" shorter, it's a 2, although a stupid 2.

Oh goodness, I was lazy and didnt sync Posick like I usually do. Student announcer was...ok. He kept pronouncing Pietela's name wrong, and every play was pandemonium...which made nothing pandemonium. Lol.

Hockey is one of those sports where one has to moderate announcing to describe the routine and then highlight the big plays with the emotion needed.

I still dont understand how I can pay $68 bucks for the Brewers on MLBtv all year and get either radio broadcast perfectly synched as part of that package, but the Big10 foists these stupid student announcers and camera operators on us via BTN+. It is truly mindboggling.

Those guys were TERRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Usually I just put up with it, but not last night and not tonight. The problem for me with syncing is whenever there is a media timeout, my video feed freezes, so after every media timeout I have to re-sync and usually they are over a minute apart. This enrages me.

Knox may the the MVP of the last 3 games. From a walk on to playing steady quality minutes is beyond impressive.

I'm guessing I would have been less entertained had we been losing. We'll see how it goes tonight.

The reason we get students is because it's college sports and these kids are going to school for a career in the field. Yeah it sucks a lot of the time but I'm glad we can see so many games live now so take the good with the bad.

I will continue to call them like I see them. This team can play with most teams if they stay out of the box and focus. When they don't do that they have fallen apart spectacularly this year. The Montgomery penalty was stupid and selfish and could have easily turned that game. To their credit, they held it together last night and played much smarter after the Montgomery penalty. My fandom does not require me to close my eyes to bad plays or conduct by our players.

Michigan and Penn State are always instigating and they should be penalized for it, but don't..... It's frustrating for me, so I am sure the players really hate it.

I guess they do get called: most penalty minutes / game in the nation:

I couldn't help but laugh when they were talking about slashing someone's stick out of their hands. One said it should not be a penalty. "If you can't hold onto your stick, it's your fault".

You're talking about a dive before they were both on their feet and then Monty cross checked him in the neck?

I thought the dive in question was after the neck shot - which was still stupid coz obviously the nut shot didn't hurt.
