WISCONSIN HOCKEY 09-10 - Climbing The Mountain (7th Edition?)

Re: WISCONSIN HOCKEY 09-10 - Climbing The Mountain (7th Edition?)

Having only two away games televised really does not help those of us who are season ticket holders.

On a side note...no Crease Creature shirts this year with student tickets. **** cutbacks. The sad thing is, I already know of people who decided not to get tickets because they would not be getting the t-shirt. It would be really nice if we had a whole student section who truly cared about the hockey.

If only....

Cannot wait until this weekend. Unfortunately, they scheduled home football games during our first two home series. I really am unsure what kind of turn out is going to be at the game come Halloween night after a midday football game and competition with all that state street nonsense. I guess we will see which students are the true fans of hockey.

I know its not free, but B2Networks carries most road games. It's $6 or something a game, but if you really want to watch the road games I think all of them have access somewhere.

I too would like more road games on FSN, but am not surprised there isn't.

Re: WISCONSIN HOCKEY 09-10 - Climbing The Mountain (7th Edition?)

The UW athletic dep. has really stopped caring about hockey being on TV sense Barry took over the athletic dep. full time in 2006.

Sorry for taking the quote waay out of context..but I'm using it as an excuse to bring up an article as Barry appears to have been a big supporter. You guys see this stuff about the BTHC?

At the risk of displaying my ignorance, what's B2Networks?

In the article we have this: "If Mike's not interested [in moving to the CCHA], I'm not interested,'' Alvarez said.

Alvarez needs to become aware that not only may Eaves not be interested, I'd bet my house that half the fan base would not only be "not interested", but they would actively revolt. This season ticket holder of 30 years would walk.

I wouldn't walk, but I'd be VERY disappointed. I'm sick of playing Big 10 schools in football and basketball and it's a very nice difference to see all of these other schools and traditions.

Google B2 network. It's a place that you can pay per view all kinds of college and minor league events. It's actually pretty cool and each hockey game is about $6.

Re: WISCONSIN HOCKEY 09-10 - Climbing The Mountain (7th Edition?)

Writeup in the paper by Andy about Pavs. Gave the Janesville Jets a little run in it. But for the life of me it's Ross Mauermann, not Rob Mauerman. Sheesh. Known Ross for a long time so I had to get it off my chest.

There.. feel better.

Can't wait until Friday.

What's the point of starting a big ten hockey conference if your just going to put Miami, W michigan and Bowling green into it, last time i checked those are MAC schools now Big Ten Schools. If the athletic directors are so interested in the concept, which i think is a terrible idea anyway, why don't they work on the other big ten schools getting hockey started, then maybe 5-6 years down the road it would maybe make a little sense, but I think it would probably end the smaller programs. That news makes blood shoot from my eyes, just the thought of a big ten hockey conf. but yet with only 5 big ten school has to be the dumbest idea ever. What do they think if they call a conference the Big Ten hockey conf. it will get more attention or something. whatever, i'm over it, Alverez knows nothing about hockey anyway, maybe he should get him football team to beat a ranked opponent for once then maybe worry about hockey...

Skille called up...

Was at the crazy blackhawks game last night, skille was in the lineup and had several good shifts, we were right behind the blackhawks bench and was getting praise for his hard work many times throughout the game. He seems to be a lot better on the forecheck and board battles then he was here at UW. he is more willing to get into those areas and come out with the puck.

The threat of Rockford can be a powerful motivator.

@Gurtholfin: It's video streamed to my computer?

Yep. I bought an (very expensive) hdmi cable that I can connect my laptop to the tv. Definitely a poor man's setup, but better than nothing. Only way I've ever seen into places like SCSU.

how does that work, how can i hook my laptop up to my TV, i'd rather just buy the B2 Network package and nhl gamecenter live and hook it up to my computer and save some money rather then get center ice...

I wouldn't walk either, but it certainly would suck. While UAA and Tech are regular bottom feeders, they are still better than the bottom of the CCHA by a long shot. Mankato, Duluth, St Cloud are all good teams, and CC, Denver and North Dakota have more hockey tradition than ANYONE in the CCHA besides Michigan. Barry would have his head up his *** (more than normal) if he made this move. So replace all those good teams w/ Bowling Green, Lake St, W. Michigan and Ferris State every year? Alaska Fairbanks? Miami and Notre Lame are good teams, the Badgers already play MSU & UM. Joining the CCHA is almost as stupid as Baggot's idea of the Badgers going independent.

B2 is nice, but be warned its whatever feed the school is using. The CC feed will feature their stupid tiger flashing on your screen countless times each period.

Dear NCAA,

Please send your best carrier pigeon from your HQ to Madison with the paperwork that has Derek Lee's approval to start playing hockey with the University of Wisonsin this season.

Thanks a ton for your prompt handling of Mr. Lee's affairs to this point.

Sincerely,

Mr. Timothy A

I don't know your laptop, but with my MacBook, there is a very specific cable that goes from my video output to the hdmi input on the back of my tv.

Take your laptop into Best Buy and they'll set you up. I think that my cable was at least $60, so don't be surprised and what it does is put your computer screen on your tv. Don't expect it to work like a dvd player. It will make everything on the screen bigger, but you are limited to whatever the video feed window's size is.

Be warned that the cable is only for video, so I also need to run my computer speakers and the audio level through b2 is often very low.

Like I said, poor man's setup, but not too bad.

The whole FSN wisconsin and Wisconsin hockey TV is such a frustrating thing for so many people and has been for years. The UW athletic dep. has really stopped caring about hockey being on TV sense Barry took over the athletic dep. full time in 2006. Does he have something to do with that who knows but i have been really disapointed in the Big Ten networks coverage of the sport. They seem to only cover games when two big ten teams are playing and even then they don't cover it that much, but yet basketball and football don't have to have 2 big ten teams playing for them to cover it. you see a program like Minnesota and every game is on FSN north, I live in Wisconsin and can watch every single gopher game with my extended sports package, yet there are probebly going to be 10 games or more not on TV at all.

I don't understand why you thing that not having the games telecast is the fault of the AD alone. It's clear that FSN-WI feels that their are more profitable things that can be shown during that time and are going to go with that option? Best case would be more games on the BTN, not FSN.

The reason that the Gopher games are televised is that it is FSN-North does feel that it is profitable to go to the effort of producing/broadcasting them given the size of the TV audience and the advertising revenue that results from that. You want more UW hockey games televised, build a bigger UW hockey fan base.

Funny thing is that I have always assumed that MN and UW couldn't be separated. Here I see UW pushing for the Big Ten...MN saying no way (in part because too many small communities rely on local college hockey to improve life)...then UW saying we'll go to the CCHA then.

But in the end, Eaves knows better...there is no option but to stay cemented in upper midwest hockey.

You want more UW hockey games televised, build a bigger UW hockey fan base.

Between challenges in recruiting and getting your fill of Ferris state, you move to the CCHA...and you can kiss that goodbye.

I think you have the causality exactly backwards. UW threatened a move (or at least implied it was open to one) in order to get Maturi to come to the table, not as a rebuke for him rebuffing the idea of more Big Ten hockey.

UW isn't going to move to the CCHA. However, Alvarez (rightly) used it as a threat to get Maturi to the table, since the rest of the Big Ten schools are (rightly) interested in discussing the future of college hockey. UW moving would be UW going alone. That's not going to happen, but they can leverage their role into action by the other schools.

I'm sure Maturi always assumed UW and MN would never be separated, either. Which is why a threat to do just that probably caught his attention.
