Wisconsin Badgers 2020-2021

Watts did a nice interview with 94.5 ESPN radio out of Milwaukee yesterday (great stage to get to be on for the women's game) and she said that during her So. year @ BC she lost her love of the game. That's a crazy thought to think the year after you win the PK. It really makes me question Watts in the world is going on at BC in that locker-room. I find it fascinating that when you listen to interviews of players and they discuss MJ, every player at some point says he never yells or gets irate with them. That must be such a great feeling to be free of fear, he really treats the players with absolute professionalism. I just can't imagine being a coach and at some point not losing my mind over something and chewing someone out. Not that he doesn't get his point across obviously. I recall Nurse one time had a bunch of great chances in a game but she was always shooting at the same spot and the goalie was making the save. She said MJ came up behind her in on the bench an whispered (paraphrase) "if you shoot at that spot again you won't see the ice the rest of the game". Later in the game she scores shooting at a different spot. LOL.

I'm listening to the interview right now. Whoever is in charge of recruiting should take the recording and send to any recruit 'on the fence'.

"Idle curiosity" about who will and won't be back next year has me taking a glance at various players' 'social media' sites this morning (which yielded nothing other than they all love UW, love the program, have gotten congratulatory messages from former teammates, and are still very jazzed about Saturday's win); at Delany Drake's twitter, there was a link to an interview she did with a local 'hometown' podcast. They ask the 'next year' question, she talks around it but doesn't anything 'newsworthy'. But the rest of it is pretty good, funny, with much 'personality' coming through from her. FWIW

HUGE NEWS! On the RedZone podcast, TDM said more than once that Watts is coming back. He kinda cut into the host a bit to make sure he got that out before they switched to the discussion of the men's team. She is hoping to get centralized for the Olympics, and if that happens, she will be back the next year. So we know that Pettet and Watts are returning. Still don't know on Blair, Bowlby, Buchbinder, Drake, Posick and Schneider. Bowlby and Buchbinder have been flirted with by USA Hockey at times, that could be a factor.

Nice to see the UW offering lots of options for items to buy to celebrate the natty. Oh, wait... it's just a t-shirt for men and women.

Would have picked up a hat, but that's not an option right now.

At some point they have to offer more. Last time we bought hats, t shirts and sweatshirts.

It's a happy place over here. All red and white rainbows and unicorns, raining hardware everywhere. It is good.

Buckyslockerroom and Uwshop and 'Name of the Game' (at East Town and West Town in Madison) are all the same company (or some such). Anyway, I got emails to this page a couple times this week.

Not on the men’s side where the Mighty Beavers knocked the Badgers out of tournament with a big upset today! (BIG smiley face)

When Weissbach (I think it was) hit the post on that open net later in the first, I thought to myself "Uh-oh. Not gonna be their day..."

Yeah, I know...you seem like a good dude for not being a WI guy. It was just WAY to fresh. I'm wearing my 2019 women's natty hat right now and my Deutscher Eishockey-Bund jersey, I'm in a good place.

As a big Bemidji WH fan who watched our team struggle mightily this season, the men’s team’s performance is a great salve.
