Wisconsin Badgers 2018-2019

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2018-2019

Pankowski didn't enroll at UW until the fall of 2014. Her 2013-2014 year spent with the National team and "pre-Olympics" came between high school and college, so her "five year clock" didn't start until the 2014-2015 season. Think of 2013-2014 as a "gap year". She finished 2018-2019 as a regular 5th-year senior.

(EDIT: And even that "regular 5th year senior" is maybe not quite correct, because she never did "red shirt" a year. If I understand things correctly, her 2017-2018 year away does not count as a red-shirt, so one could argue she's not even a 5th year senior, but is a 4th year senior.)

Even if we accept your argument there is still the matter of the disgrace your team brought to WCHA teams by losing two years in a row to eastern teams when you should have won the championship. When the Gophers lost in 2014 they made amends by defeating Harvard and Boston College the next two years. To atone for the previous two years the Badgers still need to defeat eastern teams in the next three FF’s just to erase the damage they have done to the respect of the WCHA.

I'd be in favor of surrogate arrangement where Minnesota does the atoning...

you knucklehead, they don't have to win the NCAA final against an east team, at the rate they are winning championships it would take until 2046 to finally atone for 2017 & 18, they just have to defeat them during the NCAA tournament.
This isn't punishment, it's just about making the world right.

ECAC & WCHA have split the last 6. :)
and before that 0-16

The loss to Colgate in the semi's wasn't nearly as significant as the loss to Clarkson in the finals. The Colgate loss was a UW team missing Clark and Pankowski and didn't have any dynamic freshmen. I know you clearly recall that the whole year I was downplaying the team for these reasons. MN was missing dynamic players as well that year. Those Olympic years are dicey.

Enough of the talk of the bummer past, UW is the Champs! You rodents are just trying to bring me down. Not gonna do it.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2018-2019

(without any particular fanfare, so one might be skeptical if it is indeed 'final'; except the schedule came out last year on 'this day', so I have been looking for it today...)

the 2019-2020 schedule is out.

at Lindenwood, Penn State, at Princeton, Harvard and BC in Nashville (?), Robert Morris and Colgate in Pittsburgh (?), at Minn first of Nov, Minn in Madison late January

https://uwbadgers.com/schedule.aspx?schedule=509

And yes, that Penn St series in the only NC played in Madison. (Booo!)

(And, of course, the UW women are at home - against Duluth - that same first weekend in December when the volleyball team will likely be hosting NCAA first round at the Field House and (we hope) the football team is playing in the B1G football championship. And men's hockey? and basketball? and ....)

Great catch on the schedule. One N/C series at home sucks bigtime. At least it's an unfamiliar opponent, which I enjoy a lot. I get the games in Pittsburgh, they have been utilizing that area for recruits lately, so why not show them the real deal in person. Also a great way to grow the game as are the smashville games, and MJ does like getting the brand of women's hockey out there by playing in different venues. Maybe he's just being a little too generous this season.

There is a giant gap in home games from the UMD 12/6 weekend to the UM 1/25. Yuck. They have bye weekends 11/8 & 1/17.

One would assume they are going to PSU next season, it's hard to know if there will be any trade type dates with Hawvawd, BC, Colgate or Bob Morris.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2018-2019

Rumor on the street is Watt is considering UW.....

What is the practical 'deadline' for something like that?

The normal deadline for applying for admission to UW as a transfer student was March 1st, with a 'decision' for admission made by May 1st. Obviously, such normalities can be short-cut for 'special cases', but there still has to be some date where it becomes 'too late'. When would that be?

Matt Jurusik committed to UW on 7/14/15 and played that September when Opilka bolted as an example.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2018-2019

The men's schedule is out, so time to glean women's dates based on those. (Assuming no dreaded Friday afternoon dates) The boys play Clarkson at home on 10/25, which will push BSU to a Sat/Sun. Same for 11/15, boys play UND Friday, so that pushes MSU Sat/Sun. Same for 1/31, Rodents are in town Friday, so the St. Cloud series will be Sat/Sun. Same for PSU 2/14, pushes OSU to Sat/Sun. Of course MBB is hanging out there to screw up the Women's hockey schedule.

Enlarged liver man probably hasn't seen this news yet...

I can't even imagine how much thinner he is going to consume when he sees this. ;)

Hello. My name is Jill. I am enlarged liver man's wife. He read the news and he tipped over the chair he was sitting in and hit is head on the floor. He's out cold. He was very happy as he tipped, like beat the rodents for the natty happy. I'm sure he'll be back on here with the rest of you freaks soon. Good night.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2018-2019

As if the Nov 30th game wasn't already interesting enough...

(Not sure how I feel about this. Not because of playing time - in team sports, there's always somebody coming to take your 'job' - but as I've implied before, I'm not crazy about the idea that this could be costing somebody their scholarship.)

And you better be worried that the curse of the Bambino that was transferred from the Red Sox to BC Womens Hockey does not travel with transfer players. I know I am. ;)

Ok so I am not the only one that thinks BC is cursed. Wonder if the price of losing Lonergan and Watts will be enough to break it.
