Wisconsin Badgers 2018-2019

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2018-2019

Has Greig played any center, and/or taken any significant number of faceoffs, etc? My point from the other day is UW has a dearth of experience at center this coming season, and may be the best way to find some ice time is to be the second line or third line center.

(And is Greig a left or right shot? There's a good balance right now, and 'Grieg vs Mauermann' might not even exist is they are opposite side players. As best I know, Mauermann, Curl, Watt, Schneider are left shots; Shirley, Shirley, Norby, Pettet are rights.)

Grieg is a left shot, has played both sides of center but I don't know about playing center, all I can tell you is what my Canadian friends have told me and watching her once on a live stream playing against my friends daughter. If you want scoring, you will go with Dara once she is acclimated to college hockey and just to add Mr. Mauermann, this is just a thought that I had.

No brainer move for Watts for sure when she looked at this site and saw that a family was moving thousands of miles JUST to be able to watch women's hockey. Any player would want to play for fans like those.

more likely she saw the Simpson's episode on upstate NY and decided to go elsewhere, it's played twice in the last monthhttps://www.simpsonsworld.com/video/1529502787543

it looks like you are over St. Cloud losing one of their leading scorers to Clarkson ;)

Dara will not be on the fourth line, my guess is that she starts on the third but don't bet against her to be second line. I could see Mauermann dropping down to fourth nice scrappy player that adds a goal every once in awhile. We have a summer place in Canada and know a few people up there that follow women's hockey closely and has a daughter that played against Dara, and have nothing but glowing remarks not only about her game but as a person as well.

This is just the kind of insight we need to figure out where she fits in. Great info. Not knowing much about her game I simply stuffed her on the 4th line. MJ did start Curl out there last year, but then she quickly moved her way up. UW needs to replace a lot of points and if that means Greig plays up, awesome.

Mauermann is interesting because she is an absolute sniper that needs a creative player with her to set up that shot. I could see her on the first line, with Roque feeding her. I'd move Norby down before I'd move Mauermann down.

I think the biggest issue UW will have this year is finding C's as Robert pointed out. Perhaps SS can play C. She is sneaky creative and has the wheels.

Watts Roque Greig
Curl SS Mauermann
Norby Schneider GS
Pettet Drake Posick

No, I still don't like the concept of free agency in women's college hockey. I feel bad for the BC fans losing 2 great players out of the blue and for St. Cloud getting gutted. The old beautiful thing about women's college hockey was the players were there 4 years and you can could count on that. Now all us fans have to live in fear someone will get a burr up their butt and know know how to work through it. I would have been LIVID had Pankowski or Clark bailed on UW. Grant is taking this far too well publicly.

Not sure this makes much sense. Watts and Greig are both lefties. Curl and Mauermann are lefties and all 3 you have on that line are wings. Norby and Grace Shirley are both righties. Greig and Watts will both make an impact and I think this really puts Wisco back in the mix. Moving Mauermann up for her scoring prowess over Norby is an odd statement. A little website checking Mauermann has 27g 22assists = 49pts and is +52 in her career. Norby has 28g 45assists = 73pts and is +72 in her career. "Stuffing Greig on the 4th line" because you have no knowledge is also an interesting take. The Curl, Roque, Shirley line was one of the best in hockey last year trying something new could be better, but they were a pretty good mix. Lonigren and Watts were line mates 2 years ago and the best duo in hockey. BC coach broke them up for most of last year and we see how that worked. Last, nobody ever talks about the Badgers Defense. If Wisco goes far I would bet they will have a lot to do with it.

I looked back to two years ago, and Mauermann took a small number of faceoffs, and did OK with them. So, other than a question about her size for the position, you might be able to pencil her in to fill one of the two open 'centering' slots.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2018-2019

Check out the schedules thread, apparently the Princeton series is dead and they are playing LIU instead. Bummed about not playing Princeton, that was going to be a great series.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2018-2019

Even though they STILL have not officially announced the 2019-2020 schedule, and even though you still haven't received any sort of email, etc. announcing it ... tickets go on sale next Thursday, the 18th.

There is a page at the web site which gives that data, but other text on that page refers to the "2018-2019 season", so I had been assuming that it was a "left over" not to necessarily be believed. So I finally called the ticket office this AM, and they confirmed that 18th as the date. (Oddly, this will be the third year in a row that tickets have gone on sale exactly on the 18th.)

(I'm going to be travelling, and internet access is going to be iffy for me on the 18th, but that's my problem....)

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2018-2019

The 2019-2020 roster (minus the incoming freshman) is now posted. It looks like all underclassmen from last year are back as their year in school has been updated. One thing that doesn't make sense is that Sam Cogan is on the roster as a grad student. She played in at least 36 games in each of her 4 years so I don't see that she would have any eligibility left.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2018-2019

As of 8:10 AM Friday, she is not listed. Must have been a "typo", etc.

(And speaking of "typos"...)

The web site now says that tickets will go on sale on July 24, even though the girl I talked to not 24 hours ago told me July 18. So who knows!

The freshmen are now listed including Grace Shirley, so we can officially put that to rest. Daryl Watts will wear #19, Pankowski's old number.

I have updated the spreadsheet with Watts being added to the roster.
